DO NOT KNOCK STICKER - still getting door knockers

We have the official ACCC "Do Not Knock" sticker on our door which makes it a criminal offence for any person to knock on our door.

Yesterday we had a door knocker.

Today another door knocker.

Are these people not capable of reading English OR are they simply dumb and dumber?

This is what it looks like:

Do not knock – a CLC win

All Australians can now choose who knocks on their door – thanks to the work of a CLC.

Sick of door knocking sales people? The answer now is simple. You can put a “do not knock” sticker on your door, and a salesperson who ignores it could be fined $10,000 – and their boss up to $50,000.

The Federal Court confirmed last week, that the sticker is a “request to leave” – and a salesperson who ignores it is in breach of the Australian Consumer Law.

In Australia we have the rule of law. We don't want anyone knocking at our door that is why we have the do not knock sticker, the proper one from the ACCC which is legally enforceable, heavy fines apply to offenders.

The next person to knock is going to cost them $10,000 and $50,000 to their employer.

If you want people to knock why don't you put a neon sign which reads "OPEN PLEASE KNOCK".

These door knockers annoy me. I don't care what they want I just don't want to know about it!

Strangely,  I agree with ufo on this one.     im-ok-smiley-emoticon.gif

I live on a main road and got religious nutters 2 and 3 times a day.

Then there were the gas people, the elec. people, the raffle ticket sellers.

The list goes on.

That's why I now have a sign.    Wanna knock on my door?

Gunna get abused.

I truly do not get the strong feelings expressed on this subject.
A lot of posters here are always complaining that unemployed people will not put themselves out to take low paying jobs and when someone who is desperate does, they want to have them fined a huge amount, which they obviously cannot pay, lose the job that is giving them a hope of a better future and some semblance of dignity, all so that they do not have to endure a few minutes of inconvenience.
The only thing that makes sense is that taking another person out makes them feel superior and empowered.
How sad is that.

Why is it so hard to simply say no thank you and close the door.
For most door to door sellers it is the only job they can get.
It takes a lot of guts to knock on door after door.

Why can't people respect others choices? Is it because they think their opinions are more worthy? And I'm not responsible for that being the only job you can get when you knock on my door at dinner time. Or any time. If I have a sign up, respect it.

No-one's doing anybody out of a job.

If I have a  'do not knock'  sticker then they should respect that

and walk next door.

They don't have one.
