Chaos as twin blasts rock Boston Marathon

Two bombs have exploded near the finish of the Boston Marathon, killing two people, injuring scores of others and sending authorities rushing to help wounded spectators.

There was a large explosion and a white flash. It blew us all back onto each other. It was so loud, I still can’t hear out of my right ear. I was crawling on the sidewalk, and my cell phone blew out of my hand. There were some really hurt people.

The explosions occurred as recreational runners were finishing, at just before 3pm local time (5am AEST). Television footage shows two explosions occurring metres from each other near Copely Square as competitors crossed the finish line.

Runners fell to the ground, which flowed with blood. Police arrived with bomb-sniffing dogs and hotels were put on lockdown. Reports say as many as 90 people were wounded, with some having limbs blown off.

There is a rumor that they planned to hit the NYC marathon. The marathon here was cancelled because of the hurricane.

As far as people seeing bomb sniffing dogs...the dogs aren't labeled so I'd like to know how they knew what kind of dogs they were. Plus you see that sort of stuff at all big events (dogs, police, etc...). If we were to cancel every event because of rumors we'd have to stop all of them. When we do that...they will have won.

This is the link I saw about the bomb sniffer dogs.. that is the only reason I mentioned it as it caused some to say this was all a conspiracy...

Jimmeh Cat there will always be conspiracy theories, there is always the nutters out there.

I just  dont know way the people in the area suspect two was caught had not had their houses searched, was not for the lack of police numbers.

they did have their houses searched.. 

What happened is the house was searched and the resident was told not to leave his house like the rest of the suburb.. 

After that order was lifted the guy went outside and saw bloody clothes... he then called the police and they went and checked it out and found the guy... 

I guess you could ask why the police didn't check every street and every shed and every empty vehicle... but in reality could they do that?? 

I think they were concerned that the guy had taken a family hostage... and that is why they only checked houses..

Of course they are terrorists, but unless or until the one now in custody makes a statement, we can only speculate as to what their motive was. Who knows, they may even turn out to be the left wing radical students described by Alan Jones.

I have seen several news comments saying they came to US ten years ago, has it been established that they came as refugees?
