Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

Seeing as we all know the "marketing ploy" being used by the gov., why on earth would anyone join forces with them and spread this rubbish throughout the internet even more ?

By helping to "market" this, I think people are doing exactly what the gov want, you're also......assuming people are stupid.

edit to say, this isn't to anyone in particular, it's just the silly reply button.

Loaves, Fishes And Why Tony Just Needs Us To Trust Him Until After the Next Election!

I guess Iโ€™m starting to find it laughable that theyโ€™d even think that weโ€™d buy this latest round of rhetoric from the forces that would pick our pockets then ask us to thank them for saving us from wasting our money. To me, it seems to go something like this:

โ€œArenโ€™t you concerned that some of the most vulnerable members of society will be hit by your decisions?โ€

โ€œIn our world, thereโ€™ll be no unemployed and everyone will be on the board of directors of BHP.โ€

โ€œWhat about the surcharge on visits to the doctor?โ€

โ€œWe donโ€™t think being ill is a good thing. Itโ€™s Labor that wants you to go to the doctor, and research shows that people who go to the doctor are less likely to be well than people who donโ€™t!โ€

Yep, it seems that any Liberal supporter is on such shaky ground that an earthquake would make them more secure. Their narrative goes something like this:

โ€œGillard lied in a naked attempt to grab power, but Mr Abbott now has a responsibility that goes beyond election promises. And anything that we do that you donโ€™t like is all Laborโ€™s fault. And when Tony Abbott said heโ€™d have a no excuses government, he didnโ€™t realise that Labor had been such a bad government even though he said that they were the worst government in the history of Australia, so heโ€™s allowed excuses now. Besides Julia lied. And Rudd spent too much. Besides itโ€™s not a tax, itโ€™s only a temporary levy. Shut up. You must be one of those Labor types who wrecked the country, so you have no right to question me.โ€

exactly boris, so until we know what that is, all the postings about it, is like "aiding and abetting".

well, that's my opinion.  I'll wait until the budget is out before worrying about things that may never happen.

I don't "worry" soul_art, an old comrade once told me that worrying is like a rocking chair, you can rock all day but it won't get you anywhere, great advice. I think exposing the audit is important because it shows where the interests of the LNP are, the audit was created by big business for big business - the 1% as ross gittins puts it, he also makes the point that he is almost one of the 1%, so no "hating" or "envy" there. This is from his article today.....

What distinguishes this report from its predecessors is the blatancy of its commissioning. It comes from an "independent" inquiry effectively handed over to just one business lobby group, the one composed of the most highly paid chief executives in the country, the (big) Business Council.

Not surprisingly, the commission found ways to solve our budget problem at the expense of almost everyone bar the top "1 per cent" whose interests the council represents. Speaking as a near one percenter myself, thereโ€™s little in its 86 recommendations that would make a dent on my pocket.

This isn't "marketing" it's commentary and discussion of articles and interviews put forward by the govt. and media, discussion and opinions of " current affairs" if you like.

"Australians born after 1965 will have to work until they are 70 ( starting 2035) before they are eligible for the age pension"
Slight correction, they can cease work whenever they wish, they will be eligible for the taxpayer funded pension when they reach the age of 70.

"Faced with an ageing population, the Government says the only way we can fund our retirement is to work longer."
