As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

The Abbott government was warned that the Australian Tax Office was ill-equipped to tackle a potential multibillion-dollar international tax dodge as it prepared to cut 3000 ATO staff.
At a time when Treasurer Joe Hockey is touting Australia's efforts in conjunction with the G20 to close international tax loopholes, the Tax Office no longer has a dedicated team to fight the problem.

War. What Is It Good For? Distracting From a Budget Emergency!
Nothing illustrates the rather skewed playing field that our politicians play on than the weird optics of budget emergencies.
When Labor was in office, the budget’s bottom line often blew out. The causes were generally over-optimistic budget projections and disappointing tax revenues, but the government took the blame.
Every time the budget deteriorated, the media and a rabid Coalition opposition leapt on it. In 2013, for instance, after Wayne Swan brought down his sixth and final budget, Tony Abbott declared thatAustralia had a “budget emergency”.
So it’s strange that, in government, the Coalition’s fiscal performance has largely been ignored.
And yet, we still have a budget deficit. Indeed, we have a bigger budget deficit than when Tony Abbott rang the alarm about a budget emergency. We also have a bigger budget deficit than when the Coalition took office.

In August, Mr Hockey warned that the government would take "emergency action" and pursue Queensland-style austerity measures if the upper house did not support its structural budget savings.

During the last invasion of Iraq we invited him to speak at a No War meeting, on the day of the meeting the venue cancelled because it was "political", I had to stand outside and let everyone know where the new venue was

US-led coalition against ISIL: Front for regime change
Listening to American and British leaders this week one would think that Barack Obama and David Cameron are knights in shining armor on an epic crusade to defeat global evil.
Of course, that is exactly what Washington and London are trying to inculcate in popular perception – that the US and Britain are the saviors of the world leading a military campaign to destroy the extremist network known as so-called Islamic State (IS, or ISIL/ISIS).
This is a massive public relations scam to burnish the image of America and Britain – the two countries that, rightly, are most associated with illegal war making over the past decade, from Afghanistan (2001), Iraq (2003) and Libya (2011) to ongoing deadly drone warfare in Yemen, Pakistan and Somalia. Between them, Washington and London are responsible for the deaths of more than 1.5 million people over the past 13 years.
What better way to rehabilitate the war criminals than to present them now as leading a moral crusade to defeat a global evil?
Unbelievably, too many states seem to be going along with this ridiculous charade, as can be gleaned from the way Obama and Cameron’s posturing was indulged this week at the United Nations General Assembly.

For those inclined towards conspiracy theorists, it is hard not to see parts of this current process as being carefully stage managed with the next election in mind. With public support for the government haemorrhaging in all directions, an unpopular budget and a bumbling front bench, Abbott recognises that his electoral prospects are best served by stoking patriotic anxiety
Most likely...
