Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

find it interesting  that A3 might be following the ASX "scores", as a lot of it is history (including the Circus days) which is why I bought a lot of TLS.

Can you not make a post with out trying to drag other posters into it?  Unless you are quoting & questioning their posts.

The challenges facing Tony Abbott over the next six months

ON BORROWED TIME: TONY ABBOTT'S NEXT SIX MONTHS

On the Sunday night before the spill motion, Prime Minister Tony Abbott reportedly called up to a dozen backbenchers, pleading for another six months to turn things around. Even before the calls and Monday's party room meeting in which he promised changes to how the government will operate, this was the roughly the timeframe Mr Abbott had been given by frustrated MPs.

These are some of the major obstacles - or opportunities -  the Prime Minister will face in that time.

Budget

NSW Election

COAG MeetingThe rate of GST and how much is allocated to what state, both contentious issues, are sure to come up. Mr Abbott will also have to deal with half the state and territory leaders coming from the Labor Party (pending the result in Queensland) up from two at October's meeting.

Higher Education reforms - If they fail to get the reforms through, it will be seen as another failure to pursue their agenda.

I've just heard today that voting in Oz is compulsory, is this correct ? Well it ain't here (UK), which is probably why half of the population don't. Tar and Brush being the order of the day.

Yes, it is compulsory in Australia. Federal election, State Election and local council elections.

It was meant as a joke.  I was copying another poster also, and was "reprimanded" for repeating it.  Pity that my scolder doesn't check out the other righties and their words.
