As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

If only the same comments were directed at the other posters who routinely post without acknowledging the author or publication.
and they never are, which shows pretty obviously the intent of the posts imo

Tony Abbott has delivered a snub to Communications Minister Malcolm Turnbull, sidelining him in a series of high-level private meetings with commercial television network bosses.
Mr Abbott will meet separately with the bosses of regional broadcasters, including WIN Corp’s Andrew Lancaster, Prime Media Group’s Ian Audsley and Southern Cross’s Rhys Holleran.
A3: "How odd. Malcolm Turnbull is currently overseas."
How very odd
"Mr Turnbull, who is overseas, was not invited to a series of meetings with the heads of the Seven, Nine and Ten networks, The Australian understands.
While a high-placed observer said Mr Turnbull had already held meetings with the networks individually and through industry body Free TV, he said the minister’s exclusion from meetings to discuss big portfolio matters was “unusual”."

@debra9275 wrote:that article is now paywalled for me Am. but another question is why would abbott be considering dropping the TV licensing fee by 50% at a time when govt revenue is supposed to be down
Because he likes to seek favour with the media operators and what better way to buy favour in time for the next election.

"This is a return to C&P sans original comments with no indication that is another persons work
so what??"
I agree D9275 (again?)
Look at what the content and quality were yesterday when posters attempted to post "solo". Next they will be "dismissing" our 1900 Constitution as being too old!

well that won't work for him. it's too late. I hope he's not paving the way for Murdoch to grab more of the media pie

Probably he was just copying the Circus (sorry about the forbidden history)
Television Licence Fees Amendment Bill 2013
Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy House of Representatives

Be that as it may, the post reads:
"@am*3 wrote:

This is a return to C&P sans original comments with no indication that is another persons work
However, I could easily tell it was copied because of its "presentation", but no quotation marks?
Perhaps de facto Plagiarism? which "is the act of representing as one's own original work the creative works of another, without appropriate acknowledgment of the author or source."
Too bad. Google a sentence of the text and source will come up.
