As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

we somehow got through the GFC without too much drama. it must've been good fiscal policy on our relevent treasurers part, hey it must've been because he was awarded best treasurer in the world at that time and Australia was the envy of all other nations
It's all about the woman in the blend. Some people just can't see their own sexism.
How many male LNP leaders have been dumped or as they say about Gillard, stabbed in the back since Gillard took over from Rudd?
Not a word about it. Gillard is considered the most teacherous pollie of all time for the exact same thing as nobody bats an eyelind over when men do it.
To deny it's ingrained, deep seated sexism is a lie.

Up to 5 years approx, to get a bridging visa for work? The new Immigration Minister seems pretty useless overall.
Granting work rights to asylum seekers
'Immigration Minister Peter Dutton has defended the process for granting work rights to asylum seekers living in the community.
Around 24,000 asylum seekers who arrived under the former government are yet to be processed and those who want to work need approval from Mr Dutton.
The Greens and refugee advocates both argue that the process is inefficient and say asylum seekers should automatically be given work rights.
But Mr Dutton said the process was working and that he would continue to process each individual case, despite the task being estimated to take until 2018 to complete.
"I have approved literally thousands of people to be able to enjoy work rights in the community on a bridging visa, and that is the prerogative of the Minister. It's going to continue to be the case," Mr Dutton said.
However, Mr Dutton has admitted his department is under strain and blames the delays on both stricter security requirements and a lack of resources, namely interpreters.
"People know that there is additional cost in processing these applications. We know that it is very important for us to get the identity of people right, because we shouldn't be releasing people into the community about whom we know very little," Mr Dutton said.'

Hardly that, when it proves to be true, as shown by such jurists as Burnside making stupid comments ("state committing piracy") and it would then appear that "any other government" and followers believe his incorrect cries (in their ignorance), "succumb"here's a recent one, but I'll do more research later.
Classic example. The part in green is all that matters (Abbott's stupid comment)

"Got any comments on the current Govt? Time to move on politically from pre-Sept 2013."
But the thread is : Re: Diary of our stinking Govt."
Timing? you mean like : "more serious, ongoing examples." Oops that goes back 2 years. Or posts that encompass 10 years perhaps?:
A3: " He hasn't been in the area he was in the last couple of days for 10 years.. coincidence he has a bike race at same time?"
So what is the "allowed" history period?
Seriously, if their was a Leader of the Opposition out there espousing some policies, there would be grist for the debate mill. However as there is not, the alternative is to rely upon Circus history, disjointed/bloody as it was..
Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it. George Santayana
I do see it now, within this thread , proscribe the past (pre-Sept 2013) and it will be repeated. The mind boggles, another Circus to hit town, who will be its ringmaster, oops sorry, ringperson ?

I'm not a big fan of Shorten, but I do remember being pleasantly surprised at his post budget speech last year, inspired even.
he has been pretty quiet on policy but hey> don't you remember the way abbott refused to disclose any policies at all when queried prior to the 2013 election?? It put me right off, all he had was two 3 word slogans. "stop the boats" and "end carbon tax" the real shock was to come after the election
and it did!

I wonder why some can't distinguish btween "looks like" and "is"?
Note Burnside did not say it was piracy, only that it looked like. But that doesn't matter. All that matters is that the flow of the thread is disrupted.
Isn't there a forum rule about constantly posting off topic to disrupt?

Abbott made a stupid comment (is that unusual... no way ).... doesn't matter who published it or who else said what afterwards.

Looks like he is finally getting his wish to put "boots on the ground" in Iraq, with 350 troops set to leave tomorrow.
