Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-04-20/disability-pensioners-may-be-reassessed-kevin-andrews/5400598

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

On any thread that supports our government it's bombarded by the left's cartoons, endless c&p's by the biased left wing media, obscure left hate sites happily re posted.

Do try and stay on topic ( current govt) and keep your old hang ups out of this thread.

By the way the cartoons posted in this thread are from mainstream media, not in the least bit offensive. Total exaggeration there. Same with 'offensive' graphics. LOL

Budget small print

HEALTHY KIDS CHECK AXED BY ABBOTT GOVERNMENT

A comprehensive health check for children aged three to five has been scrapped by the federal government to save about $144 million over four years, angering GPs and speech pathologists.

In last week's budget, the Abbott government axed Medicare funding for the "Healthy Kids Check", a consultation with a nurse or GP to assess a child's health and development before they start school. Funding for the program will stop in November.

The scheme, introduced by the Labor government in 2008, includes assessments of a child's height and weight, hearing, eye sight, oral health, toilet habits and known or suspected allergies to ensure parents understand the risk of anaphylaxis and how to prevent it.

I am entitled to reply to any thread at any time and post my opinion.

You are not a mod so  don't try to order me as to what I can post or not post and lecturing me on whether I'm on topic is not your place.

I will enter any thread I like and post any opinion I like, just like you do.

Just ignore it Am,

some are obviously upset at some of the facts

http://www.theage.com.au/federal-politics/political-news/maybe-their-wives-didnt-tell-them-joe-hocke...

Treasurer Joe Hockey has suggested the wives of senior government ministers may have kept their husbands in the dark about whether or not they "double-dipped" with their paid parental leave entitlements.

And in an extraordinary interview, Mr Hockey has suggested his own wife doesn't always tell him about their household finances but did not say why.

Two post-budget polls show the Government is back in voters' good books, but how long this lasts will depend on the ill-advised equity war Scott Morrison seems determined to fight, writes Paula Matthewson.

Two post-budget opinion polls have thudded onto our electronic doorsteps this morning, heralding good news for the Prime Minister and Treasurer on their "save our jobs" budget.

Yet the man feted only a week ago as the master budget salesman, Social Services Minister Scott Morrison, has suddenly gone missing in action

another good article from "The Drum" also the comments underneath are worth a read

http://www.theage.com.au/comment/abbott-cant-sustain-victorias-raw-deal-in-budget-20150518-gh3ttk

Abbott canโ€™t sustain Victoriaโ€™s raw deal in budget

The PMโ€™s position on East West Link funds amounts to yet another broken promise.

Tony Abbott thinks we're mugs. Deflecting attention from a budget that left Australia's second biggest state with only a fraction of Australia's infrastructure spending, he said he was so committed to the East West Link that he "gave Victoria $1.5 billion to actually get cracking".

It's true, he did give Victoria $1.5 billion for the East West Link in his first 2014-15 budget ($500 million of which was diverted from other Victorian projects). But in extraordinarily odd timing, he handed it over in 2013-14, just ahead of the year to which that budget referred.

The manoeuvres not only made Labor's last budget look bad, they made the Coalition's first two look good.

Like all budgets these days the 2014-15 budget was handed down in May. The 2013-14 financial year had seven weeks to run. The budget shovelled out the money immediately, before 2014-15 began and well ahead of when it could possibly have been needed. The East West Link contract wasn't signed until September.

That's a really short sighted move which will probably cost more in the long term.
