Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

He is out on the grass in front of Kirrabilli holding his wet finger up in order to see which way the wind is blowing.  It is taking a while because he has to be sure.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

"a tad counterproductive"   Really, so why the post?

Because I was disappointed in you. I very rarely come into this thread - I'm not into mud slinging - but I had posted a comment about Turnbull lying low and biding his time and when events proved me right I looked in to see if others had contributd their own thoughtst. I noticed your avatar hoped you were going to add something insightful to the discussion  but after "Poor Me" I realised you are just as biased and vindictive as any of the lefties. However right or wrong you may be about Gillard's behaviour, Poor Me is not her name.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

Whilst you are not into "mud slinging" , here it is kindergarten sand kicking (The Sandpit), did you noticed the thread title: Diary of our stinking Govt. ?
"when in Rome"

I actually did notice your contribution, mainly because it was not C&P, but also because it had  a   kudosR up.jpg     However I decided I would let it pass even though, after the style of the tag-teamers, it was not really correct.

"proved me right ", "saying nothing"

"three pennyworth" ?? Inflation perhaps?   "my two-penn'orth."

There is a well known saying that "actions speak louder than words" :-

"MALCOLM Turnbull has made a subtle comment on the Bronwyn Bishop trainwreck by pointedly revealing how he travelled from Melbourne to Geelong."
"The Communications Minister made the journey by rail, in contrast to the $5000 chartered helicopter trip taken by Mrs Bishop, a flight which is putting her hold on the Speaker’s office in doubt."

Turnbull also "tweeted" the trip, and there just happened to be media around !

That speaks volumes in itself, hardly "Turnbull lying low" but "broadcasting" in style!

PS

how does Harvey Shorten appeal?

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

But wait, there's more:

"The Speaker's office has refused to comment on reports Bronwyn Bishop spent $6,000 chartering a plane for a 160-kilometre trip from Sydney to Nowra last year.

Mrs Bishop was invited to speak at two seniors' forums in the marginal electorate of Gilmore in November and, while she was there, attended two fundraisers for local Liberal MP Ann Sudmalis.

News Corp has reported the private plane cost taxpayers $6,000 but a spokesman for Mrs Bishop would not confirm or deny the report."

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

I think that another paragraph from that article I linked to above bears posting on its own.

"Labor frontbencher Tony Burke has seized on the report which suggests there is a personal link between Mrs Bishop's office and the charter company she has been using.

"These allegations take this entire saga to a new level, to an absolutely new level," he said.

"What we're talking about now is not simply whether the rules have been broken but whether or not there's an extra layer of completely inappropriate conduct."

(my bold)

I sincerely hope Gillian Triggs is enjoying this little saga.

Don't make plans for a parliamentary Friday morning tea Bronwyn.
