Speaking to Channel Seven news, Ken Thorpe said he had โno ideaโ his son was gay and was shocked by his decision to come out of the closet.
I would guess that this is why Ian has always denied it - for family reasons and fair enough. He owes the public nothing in regard to his personal life nor any reasons why he has taken so long to "come out". I hope he now has peace in his life and be remembered as the great athlete he was for Australia.

the media have had their pd of flesh for over half his life. If he lives to be 75 and the media abuse remains the same
4/5 of his life will have been lived under extreme public scrutiny
....Now there is something to look forward too eh??
