Apparently 1 in 5 parents do.
If my kids ever misbehaved in the car, I used to just stop abruptly on the side of the road without warning, get out and sit in the gutter.
Finally one would poke their head out and ask when I was getting back in to drive the car and I would ignore them for a bit. And then without explanation get back in and continue the drive.
It didn't take long before they got the message lol.

That is just awful.
I used to carry a ruler in my hand bag and only had to point at them with it, if the boys started fighting.
Mind you these days I would be in court for smacking a hand with a ruler

We didn't drug them, but if we were going on a long trip we would usually travel overnight so they would sleep all the way.
My step dad reckoned if he gave his boys (my step brothers) a good whack before they started out it saved time, because he knew they were going to misbehave at some stage on the journey I'm pretty sure he was joking

my mum did but if she didnt I would spend the whole trip throwing up. Couldnt be in a car for more than 1/2 hour without chucking.
The side effect of the the anti vomit tablets was I slept, so yeah you could say I was drugged

At least there was a medical reason for you chuk.
Drugging kids just because you can't stand the noise, fighting etc is wrong IMO

No, wouldn't have thought of doing that.
Suffered, Eye-spy, counting the number of colour of red cars or white cars etc., guess the zoo animal starting with A etc.
When they were really little listened to their favourite nursery rhyme songs on tape over and over and over again.
For children with travel sickness (usually only on very windy country roads) we carried icecream containers with lids. They did grow out of that when they got bigger.
Only ever gave eldest daughter Phenergan once, under doctors advice... it made her the opposite of sleepy, quite hyper.
Youngest never had any.
I do remember threatening to put the youngest out of the car on the way home becuase she was carrying on in the car (city driving). The eldest begged me not to!!
