Religion being what it is today I would not think anyone would bother fasting, could be wrong?

RE The Time.
Nisan 14 - The Jewish day runs from sunset to sunset. So the beginning of Nisan 14 was when the last supper was had (probably late in the evening, but after Sunset) - Jesus was arrested some time later on Nisan 14 (still dark - probably very early morning - Peter denied Jesus 3 times before the rooster crowed (ie before sunrise) - still in Nisan 14 - at daybreak (5am?) Jesus was taken before Jewish Elders then to Romans - the crucifixion - Jesus died about noon - still daytime Nisan 14. When Jesus died darkness came over the earth for 3 hours - ie until 3pm so it was still daytime. Luke 23 tells the details.
44 It was now about noon, and darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon, 45 for the sun stopped shining.
And the curtain of the temple was torn in two. 46 Jesus called out with a loud voice, โFather, into your hands I commit my spirit.โ When he had said this, he breathed his last."
Jesus was taken down (still daylight on Nisan 14 - maybe 3pm?) and wrapped and put in the cave - the women went home and
prepared herbs but by then it was sunset (ie the end of Nisan 14 and the beginning of Nisan 15) so no work could be done on that day - Sabbath ie Saturday.

well, I'm stunned I took out the generic name for a male chicken and put in 'rooster' and it worked

I went to church this morning, then came home and had steak for lunch. No lightening strikes yet....
But Middle Crikey did go to work in a fish and chip shop for 3 hours today - maybe that counts.
Some people can go their whole lives and never really live for a single minute.

Discovered today my 11 yr old daughter is an atheist. I was discussing with her the story of Jesus and how he was nailed to a cross, and put in a cave and a boulder rolled to close it. 3 days later he rose from the dead, cave was empty... She smirked at me like I am an idiot and said, ..... " A Bear ate him " .... ๐ฎ
She has never beleived in Santa, the Easter bunny or the tooth fairy so I shouldn't be surprised that she isn't convinced that someone could rise from the dead after 3 days. Her Irish Catholic Great Grandmother turns 100 in a couple of months, and she had German Lutheran rellies to influence her on the otherside of the family... But gee her Athiest Great Grandfather would be proud if he was alive. He would think there was finally someone in the family with some common sense. :^O

RE The Time.
Nisan 14 - The Jewish day runs from sunset to sunset.
That's the bit that I found confusing in my own researches because some were saying exactly as you have, while other wre saying sunrise to sunrise, and yet another was saying sunrise to sunset only redarding only the WORKING day hours for daylight.
Had me totally confused by the time I'd finished ?:|

See I took the story as a metaphor for death and new life. And a lot of Christian believe that it was the spirit of Jesus that rose to heaven like grandma and grandpa.
I don't get why come people need to believe that Jesus Bodily rose from the dead.
By the way, not believing in the resurrection of Jesus doesn't make your daughter an Atheist.
