I think I'm dyslexic with numbers. No matter how hard I tried, as a child and an adult, to learn my multiplication tables I just don't seem to retain the numbers. I also can't remember how to do division and %. I can do them if I have step by step instructions but as soon I've completed the maths I forget how I did it.
I am good with words though and won a scholarship at school for English/Art.
What's your quirk?

I have a grandfather clock in the hallway of my home and no matter what room around the house I am in I always leave the door open at least a little way so I can hear its loud ticking.
If the door of the room 'm in closes for whatever reason I have to stop whatever I'm doing to re-open it or I can't settle down.
Whenever I stay away from home overnight I always take my favorite travel clock with me because that has a loud tick to it too.
I guess it's a poor substitue for the grandfather clock in the hall :8}
I've often wondered if my habit is a bit like having the beat of a heart around me or something, or just that I'm totally bloody mad 😞

Oh, I forgot.... I have a quirk about meat....... if I have to stand too long at the butcher I walk away. If they get to me before I leave, I can't buy/eat anything that looks like part of what it used to be.....so no bones.(and no pig on a spit) and usually buy mince or eye fillet.
I can't buy or cook a whole chicken, cannot buy or cook pork.
I have now taken to buying meat at Aldi, pre packaged.
My daughter can't eat meat at all, can't bear the smell of it cooking, her OH has to eat out if he wants meat in his diet.

I never drink all of a cup of coffee or tea, have to leave a bit in the bottom
I'm another member of that club too 🙂

Does the fact that I always feel the need to greet my little dog Good Morning and tell her Good Night every day count as being a quirk, or just me being a nutcase?
I even go as far as asking her if she slept good every night as well.
I always feel the need to say Bye to her when I go out without her, and then say Hello again when I get back home again too.
I just don't feel right if I don't 😞

I smile at my dog when I talk to her. Is that normal?
on 10-04-2013 08:17 AM
I thought talking to animals was normal? If it isn't then I'm mad too !
I talk to all animals, the greenfrogs that live inside (still ! they won't move out) the birds geckos..everything LOL I'm quite polite too, always call them Mr frog or Mrs wag tail :8}
oh and another thing...I count the steps going upstairs. I know how many there are and that it's not going to be any different...so I really don't know why I do it? Don't do it coming down the stairs.

Nup, talking to the animals is COMPLETELY, TOTALLY, UTTERLY NORMAL :^O
I am always talking to our critters, asking them how they are today. I even talk to one of our young roosters who is nasty and vicious (and will soon be dinner). I say "Hello, you horrible, nasty rooster, how are you today?" or "Don't you even THINK about attacking me you little bleep!". (He's bitten me twice already).
Like Soul, I also talk to the frogs, lizards, wild birds. "Hello Froggie, aren't you gorgeous!".
I always greet dogs and cats in the street - dogs are "Hello Woofer" and cats are "Hello Pusscat".
