Does a country have the right to protect it's borders?

To what lengths should a country go to to protect its inhabitants and borders?

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

I don't know what you mean.

The opening post is about extrernal threats to a countries border.. That is what most were discussing before the
Murdoch hijack? Which was also commented on by the OP.

the opening post asks about protecting borders and inhabitants - what's not to understand - I posted earlier about protecting inhabitants (us). No hijack just a reading of the op. It's unfortunate that such zeal isn't shown the 1000000 times (slight exaggeration) that threads are taken off topic to bash the opposition. (ALP).

I don't read the majority of alp bashing threads lol. I am not a fan of Murdoch either. I can comment without making it political.

You don't seem to get the protecting the country and it's inhabitants from EXTERNAL security threats bit. A publishing mogul has never been considered in that category. See below

BPC is responsible for coordinating and controlling operations to protect Australia's national interests against the following maritime security threats:

Illegal exploitation of natural resources;
Illegal activity in protected areas;
Irregular maritime arrivals;
Prohibited imports/exports;
Maritime terrorism;
Piracy, robbery or violence at sea;
Compromise to bio-security; and
Marine pollution.

I read the op as it is written, no more, no less - if you think this thread is not political there is nothing I can say on that. Woman Surprised

What does Rupert Murdoch have to do with a country's right to protect its borders.???????? Nothing?

Hello Am*3, In the interest of all posters feeling free to actually have a general discussion without feeling as though another poser is trying to control  the way the discussion flows . I will try to help you out once again with this question.

the question raised in the title of the thread is
Does a Country have the right to protect it's borders ?
in # 45 I posted ...it depends what day it is and what our PM and the media tells us.
I hope that clears things up .The questions about things being off topic are off topic themselves and kind of anti discussion.
btw:The mods are paid to do the job.Relax ..take the load off your shoulders and enjoy the discussion   Woman Happy

Absolutely!

Excellent post and cool good ole boys band and song.....  some of their other songs are interesting as well.....

Thanks Nero. Some good visuals in the other vids.

Almost always the gifs or tunes I post have a 2nd connection to what I've posted (A 2nd connection if the title is obvious). I think Joz is the only one to catch some of them.

I mentioned border jumpers simply walking across the border with some carrying guns and drugs....the drugs being mainly weed.

They cross the border into Texas....and the name of the bands initials are THC.

I wonder if anyone noticed?

Re: Does a country have the right to protect it's borders?

I didn't say the thread was or wasn't political. I did say my replies aren't politically motivated. I did ask why Murdoch was brought into a thread about border protection control. The answer given doesn't make sense. The OP knows the intent and topic of the opening post and they too, see the mention of Murdoch as an attempt to derail this thread.

I'd rather discuss what our media tells us to think than make this discussion interpersonal

Selective quoting back there. You omitted part of the post.

it depends what day it is and what our PM and the media tells us.
$900m of our money given to Murdoch media in cash because they ran at a loss (no gain to Australians) and our PM says he knows nothing..are you kidding?

Before that post the others were having a good discussion about border protection control.

are these are both questions open to each and every poster to answer as they wish  ?

I don't think that we should go to the lengths that Asylum seekers are treated like enemies,where our media (and therefore us) are kept in the dark about humanitarian issues and questions and doubt raised about our Navy.

Nor do I think that our PM,MP;s,media etc making Asylum seekers something to hate and/or fear is an acceptable length to go to.

The big anti asylum seeker messages spread by our Media and our now PM ...were too far to go.

 and the message spread by Murdoch media...paid for by us .
