Seems like a lot of you are missing the point of the thread.
Let's look at it from another perspective. What would Jesus do? Would he want everyone to be happy?

Well Jesus did the loaves and fishes thing - I bet he would have done the same if Ice cream and cherry pie had been invented back then.

Yes I bet we would.
I'm going to throw a curve ball now. Supposely a serial killer gets his happiness from killing people. Does he deserve to be happy? What about someone who gets their jolly by torturing animals/?

so who does and who doesn't ?

Yes.. everyone deserves to be happy... maybe if they were happier they would not have committed crimes that might make us think they don't deserve happiness.
And I think people deserve a true happiness... not one gained via external means...
I have never been happier and I think that everyone deserves to feel this way... after over a decade of not being happy because of clinical depression I honestly would not wish that on anyone... everyone deserves to feel happy.

Yes, a serial killer et al deserves to be happy - apparently everyone has that right - but general society imposes certain punitive discouragements upon a person who achieves happiness in those ways.
