That is not a practise exclusive to gays as some married heterosexuals could tell you.

The stats say that up to 40% of heterosexuals are involved at some time in their lives.

In Dublin where we stand up and applaud a priest who outs his homosexuality.

Catholic priests vow to celibacy, if I'm not mistaken.

How would you ever trust anyone who breaks such a sacred vow?

I think that you need to get your head around the fact that gay men are NOT paedophiles. Paedophile priests would still be paedophiles even if they weren't in the clergy. Being in a position of trust, such as being a priest, gives them access to children. Paedophiles are paedophiles no matter what their profession  may be. It has nothing to do with homosexuality but everything to do with preying on children.

I would trust someone far more that came out and was honest.

What do you mean...... liable of the same behaviour?

Apologist for what? You made the accusation so why not answer the question instead of avoiding it?

I would've thought it obvious fgs!

We've had so many threads on here condemning peadophiles in the ranks of christian organisations, even condemning our Prime Minister giving character reference to Cardinal Pell, who has no charge of peadophilia against him btw, and now we're asked to endorse the very type of person who is liable to the very same type of behavior!

Not to mention, we expect our catholic priests to be celibate! Not to engage in furtive, back door secksual activitiies with their brother priests and/or innocent little kiddies in their care fgs!

That kind of defeats the whole vow if celibacy, does it not?

Or does celibacy only mean no secks with "unclean" women?

Get your head around it fgs!

I would like you clarifiy your accusation that I am an apologist. An apologist for what? You cannot accuse someone of something so serious and then avoid providing the evidence. Please outline what I am an apolgist for.

"Not to engage in furtive, back door secksual activiites with their brother priests and/or innocent little kiddies in their care". You are once  again, confusing homosexuality with paedophilia. They are not even remotely the same as has been evidenced.

He has only broken his vow if he is a practicing homosexual, do you know that's the case?

That is a different thing altogether, imo.

He is outing himself as being homosexual, his celibacy is not in question is it?

He can be homosexual and still celibate, not hard to understand.

Just because he is a homosexual doesn't mean he is active. Just like many priests are straight, doesn't mean they are active. He is simply declaring that he is gay.
