I have had Foxtel for many years now, 3 boxes in fact! Now that Im moving I was happy to relocate one of the boxes with me, was advised I need to upgrade to IQ3, that will cost $125 for the box and $100 installation, I balked at the installation, that quickly came down to $50. Im still not happy, after all these years plus the monthly fee I pay I do not believe I should be paying for an upgrade.
New customers get better offers than existing customers.
Before you wonder why I have 3 boxes, adult children have one and they pay for it.
Would you pay for it?

I had a similar fight with Foxtel when I was moving a couple of years ago. They wanted to put cable in when there was a dish already on the roof. It took so much time arguing with them I told them just tocancel everything. And tha took more time!! I had been a customer for over 10 years with them. As you say, new customers are treated better.
In a nutshell, I wou;\ldn't go with Foxtel ever again, just because of their woeful customer service.
Is Optus an option for you? I've heard good things about them.
Good luck!

Does your new place have cable installed already?
https://www.finder.com.au/can-i-get-foxtel-at-my-address
If it does, then you can self install - just remember to take the cables with you
The $100 installation is for the technician. So self-install is free
Then let them know which plan you want connected

I've been with Foxtel forever. I would also expect a better deal than that.
But if your box is the old original silver one, then yes, you do need an upgrade

Yes it has the Foxtel outlets there, so we could install it ourselves. I told him that but he was difficult to understand, English wasn't great. I refuse to pay for it. I've emailed them see what I get back. Did you pay for the upgrade box?

it probably is? I used to be with Optus here at my current address, so that may be an option down there. I figure if they want to supply me with Broadband they can come to the party.

Years ago when the IQ2 came out, we upgraded the old silver box.
Had to pay a techie for the changeover
I want the IQ3 but have to pay for the box, not the installation - not happening
