I understand the point that the whole halal thing is against muslims and it is ridiculous

Tosh, it is not against Muslims if you object to paying for their food rituals, it's not against Muslims, that is ridiculous.

What is actually ridiculous is that ppl can't see past their self-righteous political correctness and realise that they're being taken for a ride by the very people they're championing.

No company should pay for any certification. If religious sects want it they  should pay for it, why is the taxpayer charged  for these stone age rituals?

Have you thought about what you just said?

If you have something to say put it.

You don't have to buy kosher sanitarium or halal if you don't want to, if you do, you may find that it is cheaper to produce items in bulk that cater for vegetarians, jews and muslims. If it is more expensive, don't buy it. Then you won't be charged.

By the time the product gets to the consumer, the deal is already done. It's not the consumer that's being extorted, it's the producer and the food production industry.

Re: Four Corners tonight on Halal

That is the same thing; it's just another man-made religious prescription regarding how food must be prepared along with another man-made religious proscription against eating certain types of foods.

The non-halal and non-kosher foods are only ritually unclean, and forbidden from certain religious positions.

No health-adverse effects result from eating non-halal foods (an exception may be a certain degree of mental suffering on the follower of religion if they discover they have transgressed).

It seems there is a sort of "lazy tax" to be paid by those who don't want to buy halal-certified foods but who don't bring a magnifying glass with them to the shops and/or who haven't educated themselves to understand the various halal-approval signs on the packaging.

(yes, anything which costs the producer to produce the foods must and will be considered when the item is priced and on the shelves.)

Halal certification should be discontinued to make it a level playing field for all businesses.

Should we also discontinue organic and free range certification to make it a level laying field for all businesses?

Of course I had to give you a Kudo for that.

Well punned. Smiley LOL
