I went to 7-Eleven tonight to get a bite to eat, grabbed a Four'n Twenty pie and gosh it was halal.
Traitors! How can they do this?
I put it back in the warmer then drove to a local Italian restaurant and we had pasta carbonara.

hopefully that will change now -
due to new regulations:
Queensland regulated the Australian Animal Welfare Standards and Guidelines – Land Transport of Livestock as a compulsory requirement under the Animal Care and Protection Regulation in January 2014. An inital grace period of 6 months was applied and has now finished. Enforcement of these laws commenced from 1 August 2014.
The code sets a maximum number of hours that livestock may go without water during the transport process. As soon as livestock have reached their maximum time they must be spelled and given water, food and the opportunity to rest.
The maximum time off water and minimum spell period varies with the species, age and reproductive status of the livestock.
Click on an animal name from the list below to see their maximum time off water and minimum spell durations:

The conditions on the live trade boats disgust me, I used to hate seeing the live trade boat in the harbour 😞 It's time the goverment stopped this barbaric practice of sending Australian animals overseas to be slaughtered.

They possibly are treated better than this man was. He was in the back of a wagon with no water or attention in the searing heat of the desert.
Note that the private contractor is the same who guards asylum seekers in detention.
.
On 26 January 2008, Ward was arrested by Laverton police and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol He was then driven 570 kilometres (350 mi) to a courthouse, remanded in custody, and driven a further 352 kilometres (219 mi) to a prison. It was noticed by the Prison transport contractors G4S driving the vehicle that Ward was unconscious. He died shortly afterwards
The mode of transport used in Ward's death had already been warned about prior to his death.

Yes, instead of so many resources focused on treating immigrants right, perhaps the Australian government could focus on improving the treatment of the indigenous people of this land.

I believe that frightened, panicked animals (sheep) before they are killed do make the meat tougher.
I was brought up on a sheep farm where my father killed sheep for our own use.

a scared/stressed animal will have a higher level of latic acid.
this causes a increased ph level, this will change the colour of the meat.
will also effect taste, tenderness and shelflife

That being true, wouldn't shipping them elsewhere to be slaughtered in poor conditions also effect the quality of meat?...besides being cruel.
