Son needed motorbike jacket - a good one - can I get it for him for Xmas and no gift needed then please mum ?
No worries, but now come Xmas morning I will feel oh so bad not giving him something to open, and yes I have done this in the past and yes I am soft, but how many other mums and dads out there have done this ?
Be kind to me...........
'tis the season and all that

Me for 1 Cat - but I always made sure that on THE day there was a small wrapped pressie as well & if you son has a sweet tooth (mine has) then that makes it easy lol

how about a small cheapish gift for him to open on xmas day?
My parents bought me something expensive close to xmas one year, and I didn't expect anything else, but they did give me some lovely pressies on the day.

Thanks all, my son is the least demanding kid I know, it is all in my own mind, I know that.
He would be mortified if I got him something else after we had made the deal.
Thinking along your line stawks downy, I was thinking of giving him the Xmas card with maybe a $5 scratchie and saying - Hope you are happy with your jacket' or maybe a photo of said jacket 'Hows that gift working out for ya? LOL

I hear you greencat! Maybe something small like an Itunes voucher?
Though different,I have a similar situation every year for my son- his birthday is on the 19th December.
Over the years, we have focussed on his birthday and Christmas is more of a family day- gifts are exchanged, but small ones.
When he was younger, some relatives would give him 1 gift for both! It was like he didnt get a birthday, some of them refused to see it as a big deal, but imagine if you were a kid and looked forward to your birthday, only to have it ignored? His birthday would often be the last day of school, and I would take a cake into his class, and it was often assumed it was to celebrate the end of year..
Maybe Im a bit sensitive about this, my mums birthday was Christmas Day, and it was as if she couldnt celebrate it, if you know what I mean..
