Son needed motorbike jacket - a good one - can I get it for him for Xmas and no gift needed then please mum ?

No worries, but now come Xmas morning I will feel oh so bad not giving him something to open, and yes I have done this in the past and yes I am soft, but how many other mums and dads out there have done this ?

Be kind to me...........

'tis the season and all that

I would buy him some movie tickets and some chocs.  I'm afraid I spoil my kids - my choice.

My daughter's birthday is boxing day and we have always had separate celebrations.  She is adopted and came home on the 6th February so we always celebrate that as well.

If it were me, I would feel funny if I didn't put a little something extra for him under the Christmas tree.

On a side note: My mother always either showed me what I was getting as soon as she bought it or told me what it was. Woman Frustrated Ostensibly it was to make sure it fit if it was clothing, or to make sure I didn't, by some bizarre coincidence, go out and buy the same thing for myself.

The worst part was that she would then wrap it and put it under the tree. Jeezaloo, why even bother? angry.gif It was awful opening up gifts that I'd already seen or even tried on.  "Oh, here's the hat and scarf set you bought me"....feigning enthusiasm... "Gee, thanks, Ma!"

I appreciated her generosity, but---swhatever6.gif

Stawka, my son was born on Dec. 28. We always give him separate gifts for Xmas, and his b'day. Our younger son was born in October, so it's fairly easy to give them equal(ish) presents for Xmas, and then the older one gets additional Birthday presents 3 days later.

My brother's birthday is on the 28th. We (his immediate family) always gave him seperate presents on the day. But the outer relatives (aunts, uncles) would take the cheap way out and combine his Christmas and birthday gifts. "Now this is for both Christmas and your birthday" they'd tell him. In other words, don't expect something else from us three days from now. The implication also was, that the gift was extra special (more expensive) because it was Christmas/birthday combined. But it really wasn't.

My brother would still be complaining bitterly about it come January! LOL.

You could always get him a pair of motor bike gloves,(then just say it's to complete the package),good.gif

Don't get him a key ring as they can be wrong size/to heavy/etc.

If you're sticking with the jacket then just you could just give him a small package with his favourite treats or

such and a note stating plus one motorbike jacket already supplied),ok.gif

He'll appreciate whatever you decide to do as he knows the jacket came from the heart and it's also for his

Stawka you are a pet.

Have bottled & wrapped the tabs & pills.

Now looking forward to very few grumps & heaven forbid a tidy room.

Bought her a VIP Lounge sign for her door.

Told her - do not mistake the VIP.

It was for VERY INFECTIOUS PLACE.

She just laughed - put the earphones on & utubed.

Just for you :

Ya know, Helen,  if she waits as long as you two did,

you'll be waiting a long time to be a grandma.

And boy, will he ever be grumpy by then

Have a great Chrissy Eve

I hear you artful- this is EXACTLY what relatives would tell my son...its like they didnt have a clue...one Aunt used to buy the same thing for all the cousins!! and say this to my son- 'This is for your birthday and for Christmas!' I would be seething, and say 'thank you- thats very nice of you'!! my son took it all in his stride, which I think made it even worse.

One time it happened in front of all the cousins, and my 13 yr old neice said very loudly- 'what a gyp, she didnt even buy you a Birthday present!' Her mother was appalled and tried to shut her up, but she carried on: 'Yeah, yeah, we all get the same stationery set every year, and he doesnt get a Birthday present every year. Wheres the fun in that?' The Aunt was very embarrassed and I had to leave the room before I agreed with my neice!

but Im not bitter     lol

haha happy, shes a riot!

I wish I could channel the tone- with the eyeroll (lol) when she said 'yeah, yeah, we all get the same stationery set every year...'

I found out years later that the stationery sets were then recycled and given to the school fete- every year..you gotta laugh Woman LOL
