Plenty of Woman have other talents. She may be a successful business woman who earns a lot more than me. ( not hard ) She may not have time to cook and clean.
Plus you never know what is around the corner. My wife was never a great fan of cooking and cleaning, but like many woman she did the bulk of the house work when we where first married..............Then she lost her eye sight. ........For many years, up until fairly recently I did a lot of the cleaning and helped with the cooking. Now we hire a cleaner and the missus has learned how to cook while blind. She does a pretty good job of it too. I still do my share of cleaning as the cleaner only comes once a week.
There is a lot more to a successful marriage than stereotypical roles. People need to bend to suit changing circumstances.

Somehow I don't think it ever crossed my mind as a prerequisite to marriage
Edit, And if I bring it up now, then that might be the end of 40 mostly happy years

My partner cannot cook. Not will not, cannot. So I do the cooking, cleaning, housework...
I find your premise sexist and offensive.
