Re: HELP! CHICKEN RECIPES,FAST!!

Bandcamp, normally here a salad would be served with the main meal if wanted.  Not as a separate course.

Re: HELP! CHICKEN RECIPES,FAST!!

Firstly.  Here,  you can't have a doggy bag unless they do take-out.

Health regulations, so ya don't get food poisoning.

Secondly, we eat the salad on the plate with whatever else was ordered.

But a salad is an option.  It's not a must have.

In other words,  it's not considered  'a course'

That's ridiculous!  So what does 'main meal' mean in US?

The entree is the small meal in between the appetizer and the main course.

But then,  you guys eat salad first!!   Which is weird.

Then you cut everything up,  like a 4 year old,  and put your knife down.

That sounds like too much to me. After the appetizer and entree I'd be too full to eat the main meal....which includes the salad? I wouldn't want to have the salad dressing mix with my food either.

Salad first...it helps digestion.

Someone else from here mentioned that to me years ago....is that you!!! I've always thought...maybe?!!

I do that, but didn't know it was an American thing and I've never seen anyone else do it. I do it so I can enjoy eating the steak with having to stop in between bites, it's just easier.

Why would you want to perpetuate another myth about the US? I'd like to know where these huge plate fulls are being served, because we'd be able to feed all the poor people with them, lol.

And while I'm at it....No one waits in these legendary long lines at McDonalds.

Also....even a 4 year old knows the difference between Australia and Austria. Australia is the 2nd countries location we learn...it's the easiest. And I know....I asked a 4 year old a month ago if he could point it out on a big map on a wall...he did. He also gave me a puzzled look like, "you crazy?". Smiley LOL

Jimmy, here what you call an appetizer is called the entree,

and what you call the entree is the main course / main meal.

Then you have dessert (of course!)

Some fancy places do heaps of courses though.. someone clever could write out the names for all of them.

I know most Aussies tend to eat the British way - cut each mouthful as you eat it, and push the food onto theback of the fork... when we were eating out with friends in the USA we had most of the restaurant clientele staring at us (as well as our friends!

Re: HELP! CHICKEN RECIPES,FAST!!

Examining both methods of cutting a steak, I would prefer the cut as required way to keep it warmer and the juices in 🙂

and to savour that last bite's yummyness as I am cutting the next 😛

but...whatever one is used to I guess works the best 🙂

Hi Jimmy

I spent a month in the US in 2012 (NYC, Orlando, LA, Las Vegas), the quantity of food on a plate for a meal (lunch or dinner) was large (compared with Australia).

Soft drinks came in large cups.

Sandwiches with stacks of meat in them (good meat) and 1 piece of lettuce. Lucky to get one or 2 slices of meat here, with heaps of salad type stuff in them.

Obesity is a problem in the US & Australia -- too much fast food the problem?

Re: HELP! CHICKEN RECIPES,FAST!!

what happened was my butcher's freezer unti for her storage lockers went down,so she was calling all of her regular customers and giving the meat away ,per the instructions of her insurance company. i volunteered to take 30# of chicken and turn it into meals that the food bank can use to deliver for the meals on wheels program. the chicken is still frozen in 2 # bags, but i don't have a huge amount of freezer space,so i want to get it cooked and down to the food bank as soon as i can.

i want to make some new dishes that people make at home, rather thaan chef's recipes.

and yes,it was delivered,steppe.

i like everything mentioned so far, thank you! 🙂

That's really nice of you.

Can't say as I've ever had those kind of "volunteering" opportunities.
