Has Community Spirit lost its Community Spirit?
Certainly feels a different place to me

OK sorry my bad
No worries Hawk, sorry for the mix up, should have mentioned the other post.
I also have a stalker troll who snipes very nasty comment on nearly post I make so now I'll post a troll alert on that poster. Now the boards can get outright nasty without any reference to wit or clever repartee.
So yes, the boards have changed a lot, a lot more button pushing, nasty name calling, crocodile tears over just about everything, nanny & motherhood posts galore, spelling nazi's & just downright "look at me posts" about trivial rubbish. Endless cliques saying nothing at all just ridiculing others & stroking their own ego's.
Intellectual snobs who post endless graphs & links while deriding others.
A bit of argey bargy is good, invigorating, but usually ends with being mobbed by the mundane cliques & tapers off into all & sundry saying hi to each other & presto! thread killed.
I loved the old RT, full of witty, clever & hilariously funny posters, knock down drag out arguments that rarely ended in shutting down any debate or argument.
Friday nights was a good as a night out.

I think all the past grudges rearing their heads on here, do come from the old RT board.. how many people from CW are still here and chipping off at each other, threatening to post screenies, troll each other on twitter or where ever?
Did CW'ers even know how to take a 'screenie' back in the day?
yeh, we knew how to take a screenie B-)
But, i agree. The battles on CW are over and done with and were not carried on to this new board.

I don't remember the old posters except 1 or 2 or what the old animosities were. I can't really comment if animosties have been carried over. All I know is that I was never reported at any time & I gave as much as I got & forgot about it after that subject thread was finished.
Nowdays anything that enters someone's mind, no matter how ridiculous or trivial, is posted here. People really should try to contribute instead of mindless social chatter that can end up sending the readers into coma city. 😛

The feuds that existed on the RT way back then were between one faction group in particular & everyone else...lol.
There was always a war raging between that group and another - bit like the Hatfields and McCoys. The rest of us just had to duck, roll, and take cover. Returning fire was definitely not recommended...lol Even so it was a busy forum and the nasties were generally outnumbered or run over with the sheer number of threads. Some threads were legendary and went on for years.
Does anyone Remember 'He Who Shall not be Named'? 'The Many Headed Hydra'? lol.
.... when he was deposed as forum bully, another one took his place (I'm sure many can guess who that might have been?)
There always seems to be one Narcissist or another stirring up trouble, but I doubt it's confined to just this forum

you are correct but they don't last long on normal forums, as most forums active members are the moderators and see whats happening and deal with it.
I post on a lot of different forums and have never had an email or been threatens with banning, Mods have edited a couple over the years 😉

Have to agree Hawk = I'm a member of various 'collectors' forums etc, and they generally don't allow trolls to exist for too long. I'm referring more to places like 'FaceAche'...I mean Facebook & Twoddle...I mean Twitter...lol
They seem to be full of nasties, but I'm not a member of either so it's only what I've heard.

I've always felt that the big social media sites are a bit like sheep herding i.e. our very participation these days has been turned into a product and they own our information.
Did you see a recent media story about Google, Apple and the other big mobs intending to 'own' our online persona's?......Crikey there's just something 1984ish about all that.
Govts are not allowed to use our information for any commercial purpose and yet these social giants are able to hold it hostage and do with it what they please. Bit of a worry.
