No one is imposing it on anyone.

The buyer determines the market.

I very much doubt the domestic market for many of those companies is more profitable than the export market.

What will happen is, they will export only and the few remaining companies who don't, will increase the price on the domestic market.

More unemployment.

when you really think about it. our govt. ( both LNP & Lab) support halal as is shown by the huge live animal export market they encourage

(not that I agree with it though)

Re: Heated discussion thread - Politics, Religion and anything else

When I was trying to find proof of white milk being halal certified I checked the parmalat website. They have a page of certfications and halal is not listed on there anywhere. They have 2 organic certified products and about 6 kosher products, why would they need to halal certify their entire factory/factories if only some of the products require certification. Imagine the cost? And why advertise every certification but halal? Weird.

Parmalat is the parent company, was it the Australian website?

Re: Heated discussion thread - Politics, Religion and anything else

and the interesting thing is ( I believe that the majority of Australians are against the live animal export trade) but our govt's and some farmers are continually trying to increase numbers and make new deals ( China is the latest)

this would be a good anti halal to stand  against  rather than boycotting small Australian businesses who are trying to stay afloat
