By boycott, you mean you won't buy it?
That's ok, freedom of choice is legal here.

Exactly, I wont buy it!
AND I will inform others about which companies and products support halal certification.

@azureline** wrote:Pauls have paid for certification of their factory. There is a fee for this, based on time, I believe, from what I have read.
It is not a matter of certifying each product but a matter of how the products are made and where and what ingredients are in them..
If the entire factory is certified then so is every product whether they choose to advertise or label the products as such.
The fee seems to be quite changeable, I'm pretty sure mr grizz said they paid certification per item (I hope thats correct), that yoghurt company paid a once off yearly fee of $1000 not sure if it was based on time or proucts certified. This years standard fee, from one certifier, for a kebab shop is over $30,000 for the year. Unless they have someone working there for 6 months of the year that cant possibly be based on time.
To be honest I dont think companies should have to explain themselves to consumers however this has become such a big issue and seems to be snowballing I think a bit of transparency wouldnt go astray.

@azureline** wrote:So, you are happy to destroy Australia's export industry?
If it is halal certified I am happy for the companies to close down, they wont be getting any $$$ from me.
i pictured you stamping your foot as you said that.
other countries have to abide by Australian standards to export their goods to us, why do you feel Australian companies should be exempt from abiding by other countries requirements?
I understand your stance on halal label being required domestically but not this.
its extreme and mean spirited and destructive to Australian industry and would encroach on our freedoms. If other countries require islamic halal products from Australian companies, I will not spend ANY of my money to support the Australian company who is supplying halal certified product to other countries. If companies want to sell halal certified product to overseas that is fine, but I WILL boycott that company.
so its not about being forced to pay tax or being dictated to by the 2% etc etc.
you have the freedom to make the choice you make, I will support your right, but although its of no matter to you, I don't support the spirit of that choice.

I think Mr Grizz said the opposite actually but when I get a minute I can check, maybe.

I couldnt remember where it was. I really thought he mentioned a price per quantity. My memory is pretty shocking though, I could easily be wrong ๐

It wasn't hard to find but may not be the right one. (I am sewing, really I am)
there are so many lies out there.
i had one poster try and tell me that where i work has to pay $4.50 for every animal we slaughter to halal who ever.
that would be more than $20000 a day. $100000 a week.
that post went. must have thought they looked foolish

OK, so this is not a thread just about halal certification.
It's about anything that will cause a heated discussion.
Here I come.
What about genetically modified food we are forced to consume?
Almost everything we eat and drink today is genetically modified. Meaning artificially altered to enhance the products appearance and growing possibility. All done with chemicals we don't even know and what health problems they will and can cause.
If we add both halal and GM to the list of avoiding to buy, what is there left for us to consume?
