Edited to respond  to no one in particular:

Some of those pollutants in the water tank in an out-of-town property help make country folk "as strong as a mallee bull".

Due to those little bits and pieces, drinking tank water helps build up resistance to some germs - sort of a vaccine?

Just Lift Up the Cistern Lid and look in there - no microscope required or the inside of your electric kitchen kettle.

Batteries in our cars and irons require distilled water not normal tap water.

Just found this on Youtube, it's a couple of years old (and I know the topic has been done to death in the last couple of days around here) But I'm sure some of you will find this interesting...

Not any more.

Not so lucky country: snapshot shows hearts at far greater risk in the bush

Australians living outside capital cities are at significantly greater risk (26%) of the nationโ€™s biggest killer, cardiovascular disease (CVD), according to national data analysed and mapped by the National Heart Foundation of Australia.

Re: Heated discussion thread - Politics, Religion and anything else

If I lived in Adelaide, I might want a water tank. Not keen on the taste of the water over there ( no offence meant to anyone)

punch I'd forgotten all about the sludge at the bottom of the tanks I'm pretty sure we used to breed mozzies in our's too lol.

Debra The tank outlet is approx 20cm above the base, thus no sludge goes into the water  ....

I know it doesn't come out in the tap water cos it just sits undisturbed at the bottom. I remember that
