No it's more basic than that. I simply do not believe there is a God - other than in the sense I explained in my earlier post. I am quite comfortable with that, it hasn't destroyed my appreciation of this wonderful world I live in or my satisfaction that against incalculable odds I actually came into existence and am here to enjoy it.
Having said that, however, I do accept that this is my personal conviction and that there does exist a possibility that one day I may be proved wrong. This is where I differ from so many believers from so many religions who just know (based on very flimsy evidence, or sometimes no evidence at all)- that they have the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth and everybody else is wrong.
My apologies. I'm not into proving anybody right or wrong. I'm just into religion (as a topic) and have found it very satisfying talking to y'all about it ๐
In saying that though, I would love to be able to convince someone like yourself of the existence of God, but unfortunately I have no real proof, only an ideology, I have developed from years of soul searching/and discussions with religious people and non religious people alike. Not to mention the hours of debates and lectures I have watched lol

"And one last question for UFO. Now if this is too personal please tell me to mind my own business. But I was just wondering Do you pray? If you do who do you pray to? Do you pray directly to God or to Jesus or? Because My Nonna was a devout catholic (bless her soul) and she used rosery beads when she prayed, and as far as I know it was Hail Mary full of grace blessed art thou amougnst women etc that she used to chant over and over as she held her rosery beads. "
Answer = Yes, to God
So can I just ask, where does Mary fit into your religious beliefs?
Thankyou to both She-ele and Julia. I appreciate your kind words. And I'm kinda glad that my explanation sounds rational even to non believers such as yourselves.

FTR I dont subscribe to any one particular denomination, I have even studied with JW's but I find them too obsessed with the kingdom and ressurection, it's almost like they are a religion focused around what will happen when Jesus comes back to rule the earth from heaven, and how wonderful it will be for humanity to live (or be ressurected) into this kingdom of Christ. I'm more interested in what I can do now while I'm alive, not fantasize about what is going to happen after I've passed away.
Re: So can I just ask, where does Mary fit into your religious beliefs?
Mary is the mother of Jesus

Nothing to apologise for, SW It was a perfectly legitimate question asked - and answered, I hope - politely and with respect.

The reason you don't believe in God is perhaps because nothing supernatural has ever happened to you or maybe it has and you haven't noticed. I have so I know we are eternal beings our bodies are only for this earth but our souls never die. Once the physical body passes away the person is very much alive as a spirit. It is also possible to leave your body whilst alive and return to it. I know it has happened to me.
A woman my parents knew for over 50 years used to go to Church every Sunday and this lady was also a volunteer at the parish and dedicated her life to helping the unfortunate, homeless and anyone who went to her, she did whatever she could. You would think she was an angel if you knew her she cared for everyone more than she cared for herself. I used to wonder why she was always at Church it was like her second home.
This woman told me a story a few years ago in front of her husband that freaked me out she told me Jesus appeared in their bedroom and spoke to them for 30min and she was adamant about it talking with conviction. I asked her how do you know it was God and not someone who broke into your house? She said there was no doubt about it he had all the signs of the crucifixion on his wrists and his face glowed and he was dressed in a robe and he just appeared out of nowhere. Jesus thanked her for her devotion to the Church and spoke to her about heaven and whats there, they spoke about life and some other issues, she said he spoke just like any person would, he then vanished into the air just as fast as he arrived. Her husband verified the story and I could just tell her testimony was for real. This lady would never tell a lie she was very devout Christian.

UFO I am sure that the lady who told you that was absolutely sincere and of course, I cannot prove that she was mistaken.
However I am equally sure that many of those who claim to have seen the Virgin Mary, or ghosts, or "weeping" statues or flying saucers or to have been abducted by aliens or remember previous lives are all equally sincere.
I am also well aware that the mind can play very powerful tricks - one only has to watch a hypnotist at work to know that. And while I do not deny the possibility that some of these phenomena ma yeventually be shown to be supernatural, as things are, I cannot convince myself to believe in any of them.

What if I can prove to you that a spirit world exists would you believe it then?

If you could prove it, then obviously I would believe it; but first you would have to define exactly what you mean by "spirit." For example there are probably many natural phenomena which have not yet been discovered yet - thought waves may be one of them and, who knows, one day we may all be able to communicate telepathically - but that would not be proof of a spirit world.

WARNING: DO NOT TRY WITHOUT CONSULTING A PHYSICIAN FIRST.
To experience supernatural one needs to fine tune their chakras and open the 3rd eye. One needs either an ipod or smartphone and a good set of earphones preferably the ones with the cup at each end and you don't put the volume loud. A setting of about 3 on a smartphone. If it is completely silent even on number 1 is plenty.

OK I'm not going to open those links tonight but sometime over the next few days when I have the time to give them my undivided attention I will certainly have a look.

Neither heaven nor hell are real (unless they exist for us in this world and in our lifetimes)
. The Promise and the Threat.
Good cop; bad cop. Religion exists today as nothing more than a means of social control, and the appeal to religion is cynically exploited by our church-going pollies who want votes and will bend over backwards to appear to be devout in religion and oh, so reasonably tolerant of other religions, no matter what their personal opinions are.
