Here's A Situation........

An individual who alledges he interrupted a burglary at his home, jumped in his vehicle, trailed the fleeing perpetrator for a distance, then ran him over...........fatally.  Some folks on facebook laud him as a hero, far too few bother to examine the consequences of his actions.  He had already notified the police, and he was in no fear for his life.

Do you think, with the information provided, he should be indicted for, at least, 2nd degree murder?

Back a few years ago,  armed gunmen entered a drugstore in Oklahoma.......the manager wounded one, then chased the others outside.  He returned, went into the back room to obtain another weapon, then pumped five more shots into the first thug, who was laying on the floor.

A jury found that he was justified in the first shot, but the following five shots constituted murder, and the manager was sentenced to life in prison.  That same week, the other robbers were convicted of murder and sentenced also.

Oh it's true enough, but there is no point in providing a link, there are no further details...........

I see: it occurred in Oregon, not Oklahoma.

That's why I couldn't find it when I Googled: you only referenced OK, and continuously conflated two different incidents without clarifying the differing locales.

You state in the OP that the Oregon man was not in fear of his life.

How can you possibly know this?

Why didn't you just provide the link when we asked you originally?

And how is any rational person to make a proper judgment based on the sparse info. available?

Very odd.

that link wasnt about a guy being run over. so did that really happen or is it a hypothetical?

It's extremely confusing, but the OP asked us to comment on the Oregon story without saying it happened in OR or being able to provide any meaningful info. which could lead to a proper discussion.

He ALSO mentioned an incident in the OP where a pharmacist shot a robber in Oklahoma, attempting to conflate the two stories without anywhere near enough info. on the more recent Oregon incident to allow intelligent commentary.

Re: Here's A Situation........

What possible difference does the state in which it occurred matter?

Huge difference.

Stand Your Ground laws, for instance.

Also, in trying to Google the incident, I only had OK to go by, so couldn't find it.

Next time, I'd suggest you provide a link in the OP, and also wait until more info. is available if you want informed discussion. (Did you want that?)

Impossible to discuss seriously with so little information, as I originally stated.

A little more objectivity and a lot less bias would no doubt help as well.

Conflate. A word I've hardly ever seen used, yet I've now seen (EDIT: twice) in less than a week. What an odd coincidence.

i think pompous is a great word for those who own that 365 day vocabulary calendar, lol!

maybe you should ask for"ejumucated" too, sounds like it would fit in the urban slang dictionary, lol! ๐Ÿ˜„

chuk, please remember that most of us DIDN'T come here to go on the offense against anyone. but like all of you, there are occasions when defense is necessary.

especially when you've been followed here by those who want to harass you.

that's reality for most of the yanks. most of us are nice people who just wanted to make new friends, and get away from the trolls.

i admit that we got off to a bad start, but i did apologise, and you accepted it.

i know in my case,i wish that the enmity from some would stop. i tried,it didn't work, sorry.i WILL defend myself from trolls.
