Here’s How To Invest In Big Pharma

"2020 has been one of the most eventful years in recent history, with the coronavirus pandemic having the most impact on the way the year unfolded.

While the pandemic is still ongoing and billions around the world continue to lead their lives under the new reality created by the virus, the end of the pandemic is finally in sight, albeit still distant, and pharma stocks are now generating extreme interest among investors".

Of course, some of us do inject insulin (which is also potentially  toxic) into our bloodstreams every day and I'm sure Big Pharma makes a profit from that.

Re: Here’s How To Invest In Big Pharma

Is there a moral issue here icyfroth? while it's always good to invest In something that guarantees a good return, is it right to invest in something that has the potential to cause issues down the track. As you know, I'm not against vaccination, I have the stance that some would be necessary. Those that are have years of use are proven and side-effects are known. It can take about half a decade for proper tests to  be done for a vaccine to be ready for use. A rush job bypasses a lot of the tests

The below was posted on another thread by a interesting, sensible and serious discussion contributor rogespeed

Re: coronavirus vaccine, who should get it first?

So knowing that rogespeed is here to disccuss and debate fairly, I decided to look at what he posted. ( better link here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WdsAVTkSDhM  ), I found it to be interesting and highly informative. Well, the interviewee, Dr. Peter McCullough who is well respected in his field, presented a valid case for the use of Hydroxochlorquine in early stage treatment of Covid 19. It is effective! Obviously tnere's more to the treatment and other drugs to be used as well as vitamin / mineral and steroids. One manufactuerer of hydrox is Accord Healthcare Inc. I'm not sure what their shares were worrth prior to early 2020, mid 2020 and now. Certainly the ignoring of the early stage treatment being ignored is now a blow to their profits. It would be interesting to see the profit change in graph form.

Shown below, Merck is going a different route. So with what ever has made them decide this is a better strategy to use, could this be an indicator of a better long term investment?

Merck Scraps Covid-19 Vaccine Candidates The two shots generated comparatively weak immune responses in early-stage studies

By Jared S. Hopkins

Merck said it would now focus on advancing two experimental Covid-19 drugs.

Merck & Co. said Monday that it is halting development of its two experimental Covid-19 vaccines, after early clinical-trial data showed the shots generated disappointing immune responses against the virus.

Early-stage studies of the vaccines indicated they produced inferior immune responses in subjects given the shots compared with people who survived Covid-19 or took authorized Covid-19 vaccines, the company said.

Re: Here’s How To Invest In Big Pharma

My reason for starting this thread was to illustrate how big profits can be generated from investment in Big Pharma.
It goes hand in with an earlier comment I made on another thread about big profits to be made from the health (sickness) and aged care industries.

Which begs the question: what's the priority?
Healthy profits, or healthy people?
