I've been reading, and watching shows about food around the world, it's diversity and its similarities. And with Christmas coming, I thought I'd ask what your favorite special to the holidays dish is?
One of mine is Whoopee pies, one of my DILs is from Pennsylvania Dutch country and she makes them for us only at Christmas. They are so goood!

The closest I could come up with.
I've ordered white.

Good morning all xxx I can only stay for a minute or two, but what a helpful and great thread this is.
Love the lights, might be I can get some as well, will certainly have a look.
Anxiously waiting for the Choc Pot recipe ...

This picture is from Google and mine usually end up looking something like this.
Doesn't that look outstanding. Not sure if I could get it to the same level of expertise but it doesn't look overly complicated. probably harder than it looks though.
Just tossing up if I should give it a try. fridge space is a real premium at our house though as we only have the one.

No fridge space needed - it wouldn't last long enough. lol

Some years I do "cheat" though Springyzone ... it all depends on the time factor.
I buy a chocolate Swiss roll from the bakery, slice a little off the bottom edge so it sits flat, and then make a chocolate butter icing and decorate it. I cut a slab off the end to add the extra 'log' look.
This year though, I'll make the roll ... sometimes I have to make two because the first one ends up having a cake-quake when I roll it and ends up looking like a mashed sausage gone berserk ...

That is exactly the sort of thing that would be likely to happen to me.

Look up Nanaimo bars if you dare ...
Thousands and thousands of kilojoules, but oh my ... for Christmas they are just 'something' else ...
