Homelessness

I have been to a meeting with other welfare group and we were discussing homelessness, and how we could solve the problem  I found it very interesting as there area number of reasons for people being homeless.

Each of the groups were representing the own group and had ideas of how to solve the problem that their clients have.

I have been sitting here trying  to come up with ideas to take to the next meeting.

Any ideas please.

Single person homelessness is not an easy fix, unfortunately. Housing offered is a small dingy box... on your own could be lonely. Single flats are often in comlexes with unstable neighbours who cause fear...

I have a cousin that faced similar risk.  A few years on and he has full time job and has been OS on holiday. Thankfully.

The best way to fix homelessnes is to offer people jobs which pay enough to enable them to rent or to buy a home.

But this causes inflation (in rents and in house prices).

Why? Because people aren't satisfied with a reasonable return for their investment. They want to charge as much as the market will bear.

What's the solution? the remedy for people's greed?

We have an economic system which encourages and rewards greed at the expense of those who cannot defend themselves.

Nice, eh?

and it doesn't matter whether or not you vote for politicians who wear blue ties or red ties. it doesn't matter.

No one size fits all in it is all I can tell you. There's alot that don't make sense. Being in another shelter in a diffrent place now, for the time being, I'm one of the few older women in here, but even for women in their 20s they act and fight with eachother like the most unrully children. to the point where the police could be called and that don't fare well for me. I'm gonna have to leave this place too. They won't even let me help, stuff like sweep and mop, clean the restrooms, and they, the staff there, don't do it, or when they do, don't do near as well of a job at it as I would if they would trust me with a broom or mop.

Has anyone noticed the increase in the working homeless? Low income earners who are still holding down jobs but living in their vehicles because the cost of living is so high. These folk are only one step away from being permantly homeless and surviving on welfare.

Yes we have noticed what are referred to as the working poor.  We have an increasing number of our clients in this group.

'Poor people' has been expunged from the lexicon.It's 'low income families' now.Much more palatable.
