it's 44 outdoors and 31 inside.
I have just been out hosing down my caged birds. The big boofheaded english budgie is not coping well.
I also had a king parrot on top of the cage that looked just about knackered. She didn't move when I sprayed her, nor did the rosella in the tree. The kingparrot is sitting on my top step now, she looks a bit better.
I've put a container of water under a tree down the paddock for the koalas and other natives.
I put the hose on the dog too, he wasn't the least bit grateful LOL

My barometer only measures farenheit and it was on about 85 for most of today. Kids put the air con on and it went down a lot. I've turned the aircon off now.
iPhone tells me it is 29 celcius now.

Down to 25 now - it was about 31 today after 37 ish yesterday - but the humidity is at 90% after we had a short shower around 6pm

The Mrs is in her undies, the dog's panting today is only surpassed by the day he chased the school bus all the way to town and then followed the postman back, the cat just farted a dust ball but quickly gobbled it again because it looked wet
...on the up side... t
he gold fishes flesh has just turned white which can only mean the eggs we threw into their aquarium are poached
... but I think it was hotter yesterday..
the Mrs had nothing on

Yeah, the weather is not great.... sticky and humid in the day time, cloudy, windy. Evening cool and windy (not nice weather to be outside at the beach or BBQing).
I spent the week between Christmas and NYE in Sydney, the weather was quite nice to be out and about in.

Hot here. Forecast 33 but it got to 36 something which is high for here.
It's our minimums that are the problem, currently 26.6 will drop to 23 or 24. Booyeah
Months of that to come and high humidy.
Just about sucks the life out of you.
But geez its good in winter and the best part of 8 months

still 40 outside but the horrible hot wind has stopped. Only one casuality today, a young peewee.
We ended up putting the sprinklers on for the native birds. I had two parrots that I didn't think would see the day out but they did. One little fellow I have never seen before. I think he is either a fig parrot, which aren't found here, or a lorikeet which I don't think should be here either.

Stay cool everyone affected by the heat. โฅโฅ
I'm in Melbourne so it's amost ducted heating weather
Here are my tips for staying cool:
Close all the windows and blinds/curtains in the morning. Open them up at night. I tape car window shades to my glass french doors.
Freeze bottles of water and place them in front of a fan.
Take frequent luke warm showers.
Take an ice pak to bed and place on your pillow.
Make lots of ice cubes and have them in your water plus in your animals water bowls.
Hose your animals (rub a cat down with a cool cloth).
Only have the fan on when you're in the room. It actually heats the room but at least when you're in front of it you'll feel cooler.

It doesn't often get to 40 degrees here, but it does.
Right now there is almost foot of snow and I'm snowed in until the plow comes by. There are big snow drifts and it's windy and cold. It's -11c and going down to -17.
Maybe this will cool you down a bit....
