He would not have been given a blue card if that was the case, although that system, in Queensland anyway, is flawed.

I thought I read he has only been in Australia for about 18 months, so not very likely he is on parole or remand.

He was born in Australia.  He went to the Netherlands to live for a while then returned to Australia.

that's why I don't usually bother to read the news. They all seem to have different details.

Well try a different news source or two.   Newscorpse is the most sensationalised and often the least accurate of the lot, with these types of news stories.

SMH today: Mr Stanford, who was born in Tasmania, moved to Leeton last year with his mother and brother after living in the Netherlands for 10 years.

Vincent Stanford, the man charged with Ms Scottโ€™s murder, was born in Tasmania but spent many years living in Holland with his family before moving back to Australia and settling in Leeton 13 months ago. He worked in the same school as Ms Scott.
