Just take a glance at the front pages of the telegraph, or listen to Alan Jones etc. The abbott government is using scare tactics in regards to muslims and the fear of an attack of some kind.

Everyone that I know that went for a swim on Christmas Day had their bags searched at Bondi Beach.

The world is a seething cauldron of violence, disease and catastrophes at the moment, and it's not due to right-wing politics, is it?

I disagree with that comment. a lot of the worlds current problems are due to right wing policies

for example.... what we've done and created in the Middle East

for example... in Australia, the division and hatred the abbott govt is causing in the community.

Donna

What planet do you live on ? I know Bondi is relaxed but do get the news ?

We have had TWO attacks already - knife attack in Melbourne and of course the Sydney siege

and a number of attacks thwarted just before they happened - the Holsworthy bombing being one.

So attacks are happening, it's not like a fanciful possible future occurance.

The reality is that you are more likely to die in a car accident

According to this article there weren't too many at the beach that day.

Re: How would you best describe right wing propaganda?

Stop changing the subject.

You said Abbott spreading fear of attacks - based on what has occurred - and probably intel and the statements by ISIS

he is right on warning the public.

Search of bags - probably based on intel, why tie up a whole load of costly resources ?

Bondi is an obvious, iconic lightly defended, high media exposure target.

there is one example right here in this thread

the evil greenies attacked Gunns etc. etc.

but when you read the whole story, it is much bigger than that. as if Gunns was some poor innocent business, check out the things they did

I know what Gunns did, well not all, did a bit of reading here. I supported a campaign against them.

You might disagree with them and what they do, want to do but the left were the ones who carried out the violence.

And as per one of the links I provided, what p ees a lot of people off is that they go to court and get slapped on the wrist or lightly fined with no conviction and it happens time and again.

Yet if a white right winger did the same to someone's work place - like a court, the book would get thrown at them.

Re: How would you best describe right wing propaganda?

but a right wing view here in this thread is that they were a poor inocent business attacked by the nasty greenies, it was all the greenies fault and the greenies destroyed the logging business.

poor and illegal practices may have destroyed the logging business ( if indeed it is destroyed), I'm not a Tasmanian, so i don't know how the general population felt, but I would imagine that most would not have approved of Gunns illegal practices & probably stood alongside the greens
