I know this is a long shot but...... doggy question

My Charlotte  cavalier (avi) has had her second episode in 6 months of

canine haemorrhagic gastroenteritis -  2nd day  in hospital on drips and meds

and still not stable  -

I've done a lot of research on the internet, reputable sites, and long talks with the

vet and they

just don't know what causes it despite numerous tests so I don't have

much to go on.

I won't go into the symptoms way too upsetting and horrendous, ,

but just wondering if anyone  here has had experience of this and

any suggestions or ideas ?

I've only had my little girl for a few months and love her dearly and

will do anything.  Please help if you can?.

Bright, with all but one of our dogs I just gloop it on top of their food. One of the dogs is fussy, and likes ALL his biccys coated with yoghurt please, so I have to mix it in ;\

I only give it to them with their morning meal, which is dried kibble, in the evenings they have "wet" food.

Bright, yes she is  black and tan and just drinks the Yakult by itself.  Goes crazy

when she sees the little bottle.  Her breeder actually recommended it, she gives

it to all her cavaliers.

How is Charlie doing today? :-x

As everyone here seems to be doggy types maybe someone can answer a question for me.

A friend has cocker spaniels and has always given them a raw egg over there normal food twice a week and she has had these sort of dogs for 30 years or so and they have always looked great and shiny and healthy.

Would the egg really be what is helping them look great??

Well Monster and Meep that sounds hopeful if your dogs love the

yoghurt so much so I'll get some tomorrow.  It sounds a great idea.

Meep Charlie is doing well today,  she's eaten well and been for a

bit of a run in the park it was such a lovely day, and now is snoozing.

Also (whisper) her poo was good -   very important as us dog

owners know, lol.

Bump, yes probably.

We give our dogs both raw eggs and cooked eggs when we have a surplus from the chooks and their coats are always glossy.  My grandmother swore by it too, she had a black lab who looked fab even in his old age.

However, there are recommendations against feeding raw eggs due to the possibility of salmonella poisoning.  I take little notice as I know where my eggs come from and how old they are, but I guess there is always a risk.

Should add that we also give our dogs fish oil capsules (human grade). This also helps with condition.

the nutrients in the egg keep their coat shiny and healthy works with cats too.

I give my Cavie fish oil capsules in her dinner, just plonk it in whole and she eats it up. Very rich in Omega 3 which they need.

So happy Charlotte is all better and home again:-)
