Does it make much difference the stuffing inside e.g. feather, wool, microfibre etc etc.?

So long as it is not 'cat fur' - NO
Seriously, I like the feather ones, light but snuggly.

buy a silk filled doona from Ebay
The best quilt I have ever bought
I have a thin quilt for summer and a thick quilt for winter.
Costs alittle more but I find the silk is light, cozy and I do not overheat.
make sure it is 100 % silk filled
there are a few very good sellers on ebay who sell silk quilts

Do not buy feather if you are asthmatic. Go for wool filled.

If you are asthmatic then neither feather or wool is suitable as neither can be regularly washed.
In fact, if you are asmatic, then quilts will make your symptons worse.

I am asthmatic and my breathing improved when I switched to wool-filled quilts.
They can be machine washed.
Blankets weigh too heavily on me. I also have emphysema
