I went to BP about 30mins ago to fill my tank. I grabbed the pump to fill up and a voice came over the loud speaker saying "PREPAID ONLY". They refused to allow me to fill up so had to go inside to prepay an amount of $80 without knowing how much I needed whether it was higher or lower. It turned out the pump stopped at $80 as the operator pre-programmed that exact amount. I have been buying fuel at this particular place for 12 years. They wont see me again!

My daughter just had her 2nd lot of plates stolen off her car.
First lot was used for petrol theft.
Second lot, the police say if they haven't been used yet -
it's gunna be something bigger.
Worst part is, there's no free replacement with Vicroads.
Once again, out of pocket $62.50
I think if there's a police report, they should be free.
We pay them enough money for registration!
She needs anti-theft screws quick smart.

They dont know if you are a crim
they dont know if the car is stolen
They dont know if your plates are stolen
So they have the prepay policy for everyone over night. Really, what difference does it make to your life?
When I walked in the store I informed the lady that my intention was to FILL the tank. SHE decided to charge $80 and to stop the pump at this amount. It turned out that it wasn't enough to fill the tank AND I wanted to buy milk afterwards and pay any extra amount for fuel if it had gone PAST the $80 mark. I was not given the opportunity to FILL it completely and buy additional goods as intended to add to my bill. I was just treated like a criminal right from the beginning. Once I realised she pre-programmed the pump at $80 I replaced the pump and left. I wasn't going to buy milk there then or anything else.

generally on prepaid, i just pick up a few items if wanted, pay for those items the same time i pay for the fuel
what was your fuel gauge reading and how much does it usually cost to fill your empty tank?

It can cost up to $100 just depends on the price of the fuel. The gauge was almost full but not quite. This BP I went to is not a small one. It is a huge 24/7 modern BP next to a freeway. A big truck stop. Truckies park there and they have a restaurant, supermarket, showers for truck drivers etc... huge BP servo. They have cameras installed everywhere and lights so bright it looks like daytime.

UFO, I'm suprised that you even use a credit card, don't you know that by using one "THEY" can keep tabs on you?
Who can keep tabs on me? LOL

no, if she was treating you like a criminal, she would have run screaming from the shop and called the police. Did that happen?

One I went to said that I could leave my card at the counter. As if.

Never really thought about the rights or wrong of it all - I just do what is necessary to fill up the wagon.
I do recall one service station down in Margaret River though - they still offer drive way service and it came as a very pleasant shock lol
