If Labor goes, Gonski goes with us: Gillard
Typical Labor/Union blackmail/standover tactics.

"Mr Abbott's Liberals will always stand in the way of this reform."
that would be typical of Liberal negative always-backward thinkin'

Well surely not . . . unless the incoming govt does away with it.
please explain.

Whilst the OP thinks it's blackmail, Gillard is simply stating the bleeding obvious.
The Liberals (under Abbott) will not implement the most crucial aspects of this review. Abbott has already made that perfectly clear.

When the Liberal/Nationals win they will change everything.
Doesn't anybody remember what Peter Garret said in the 2007 election when asked what the policy changes would be under Labor? "We'll change everything" he said & laughed.
I don't think Peter Garret will hang around after the next election, he more or less said as much on TV yesterday.

The point of this thread is to highlight the typical attitude.
The statement is begging/threatening, "If you want education reform then you have to re-elect me"
JOOLYA!!! what makes you think that you are the olnl person who can introduce reform??
The Gonski recomendations can be put in place by any sitting government.

Maybe keep up with the news and you'll see Abbott has no intention of implementing the Gonski reforms. Liberals don't reform, they restrict.
So, if you want education reform, you need to vote Labor 🙂
If you're happy with how our education system works, minus plenty of teachers and guaranteed funding cuts, vote liberal.

Umm...hello??
According to Abbott he has no intention of putting in place the key elements of the Gonski report.
So if you want the best education reform ever proposed for this country then it stands to reason that Labor need to be in government.
Unless you are suggesting that Abbott is lying in order to get re-elected and that he WILL implement the findings in the review despite his critical opposition to it? ?:|

Hey Karen, so you've decided to join the rest of us screaming goats eh? I got the impression you weren't interested in political debate.,.... though I'm not disagreeing with your opinion - in fact at least half the electorate shares that view thankfully so even if LNP get in, they won't have full power. All we can do is keep the playing field even & the power base of both sides diluted..... until a REAL leader emerges.
