I dont have an issue with the salaries of our PMs. It's crazy that they earn so little for the responsibility they have.

Mind you, I don't think Abbott deserves a cent more than the minimum wage lol. ..

PM is only head of the government, he does not have sole responsibility, the decisions are made by voting in the lower and upper house.  PM is a figure head.  Sports starts, movie stars, pop stars make whatever people who are into that type of thing willing to pay to come to see them.  Surgeons spend many years learning their skills, and work very hard for the $.

What I find disgusting about our alleged politicians is their hypocrisy. They gleefully remind the Aussie workers that their Asian counterparts are getting a bowl of rice and a boot up the freckle as their daily pay rate so Aussie workers shouldn't be too greedy. However when it comes to the salaries of our alleged politicians they like to remind us that executives and others in North America are getting very generous salaries so we should pay our alleged politicians the same. Are we in the Asian region or the North American region?

We also need to remember that the salary is only part  of a politicians monetary entitlements. I doubt if the wages for a Prime Ministers, assistants, minders, spin doctors etc come out of his/her $400.000 salary, or whether they pay rent, rates, or power bills on their accommodation or the cost of travel to and from work.

And even those blue ties are probably tax deductions.
