If you were Indonesian, what would you think about Australians?

and our Government?

If I try and put myself in their shoes I would probably think that  a lot of Australians are very wealthy, greedy and not terribly compassionate. Generally speaking of course.

Surely they must be in shock when they read about boat returns to their much much poorer country.

55,000 and counting is not a handful of people. How many are you all willing to sail into Australia? 1 million?  4 million? 10 million? 20 million??.

Who's ready to sacrifice their lifestyle to accommodate them?

Well, if nothing else, it's interesting that so many seem unable to answer the simple questions. Are they unable, or unwilling...or perhaps it's an inability to up empathise and think outside their own world view....or it could be embarrassment at what the govt is doing in our name so it's easier to answer with fruit analogies.

If I was an Indonesian I'd feel offended that my tax dollars have to be spent on thousands of people held in camps there, who are simply in the country on their way to Australia.

I'd probably feel confused that a rich country like Australia is so cruel to people and arrogant towards their neighbours.

Re: If you were Indonesian, what would you think about Australians?

Just a quick question.

Who is in  favour allowing those with money taking advantage over those who do not?

Is it ok to allow those who have 10-15 the going rate for a passage to Australia from Indonesia to take precedence over those who  do not have the funds and are going through the legal channels for entry.

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

Start a new thread if you have questions unrelated to the OP.

Some people can go their whole lives and never really live for a single minute.

Frankly my dear, I don’t  give a **bleep**. They despise us anyway, we are dirty infidels to them.
