I wouldn't say fondle, I see it as a reassuring affectionate rub and as julia said, if she was facing him, he would probably be doing exactly the same but on her back.
I can see a point, that in front of so many people, he should perhaps have been a little more mindful of her feelings as she may have thought it uncool for her friends and all to see such affection.

If you didn't know who he was, would you still think it was appropriate
behaviour?
by now, everyone who accused him
of fondling a girl, is aware it was his
8 year old daughter.
some of the twitter comments:
I'm so sorry you have to read this nonsense Craig you don't deserve this And neither does your daughter. Ignore the negativity
People need to stop giving Craig Foster grief. It's his 8 year old daughter for god sake. Those sharing the video are just humiliating her.
He is not being inappropriate. His hand is clearly rubbing the area of the embroidery. And if you look at the man next to him with the two little boys, that guy's hand is doing the exact same thing to the smallest boy's chest; yet no one is saying anything negative about him. This is total nonsense to be making an issue of.
and from craig:
Shame my 16 yo girl and 18yo son couldn't be there as well. I certainly would have hugged them very close too. Special for a father.
Foster said the match had been a family affair.
“It was great to have our daughters and sons with us,” Mr Foster said.
Organisers of the match said all the players had been invited to bring their children out for the anthem, and many of them can be seen hugging their children throughout.
“It was a wonderful, innocent occasion for all of the players and their children,” a spokesperson for event promoter Blackbridge said.

Bob asked for opinions, I gave mine.
I won't apologise for it. I stand by it

well that's a shame because
he doesn't deserve it.

"OK, my bad."

I wouldn't seek him out on the net to tell him, but that was weird. I bet some in his own family agree.
Plus at one point he actually felt around for her nipple and once located rubbed his thumb back and forth over it.
On national TV...seems creepy.

I think it's about time you all got off the authoritarian outrage bus. To see something sinister in an innocent interaction with his daughter says more about others than him. Bit like the Chris Gale witchunt.

I think it's inappropriate that no one stands at attention any more during the National Anthem.
