I couldn't find an appropriate thread to post this, so I thought I'd start a new one.
My bath tub's tap started dripping a couple of days ago at the rate of about two drops per second. A plumber is coming tomorrow. We have been catching the water to feed our plants. The amount of water we have captured over the last 24 hours is between 15 and 20 litres, allowing for some loss while we slept. This amount has blown me away, I thought it would only have been a couple of litres. Goodness knows how much water I have wasted and how much money I have wasted over the years.
Does anybody else know of information about anything that might be interesting or helpful?

Anybody can fix a leaking tap
Search Youtube on how tos, if you're unsure. Then you can fix the problem yourself soon as it arises!

Just a washer, is all it is, NFS.
Just make sure it's for the right tap - diff washers for hot and cold.
A plumber will want your first born as payment for that.

Actually, I know how to fix the tap, I've done it many times. But I've decided to replace the whole unit with a modern tapware system. Fortunately my mate is a plumber and he took a look yesterday. He said he was concerned that there might be a crack developing because of the age of everything and the type of drip. I trust him and he is taking care of it for me tomorrow. In the meantime I feel good because the water is being used for our plants, and not running down the drain. But the amount of water has shocked me!

BTW, my mate is only charging me for the parts, but I'll take care of him. In case anyone was a little suspicious LOL.

Stawks, I had new taps installed a while back in my kitchen and other bathroom. There are no washers or rings involved in the newer systems.

Ah well then, better for you
Once i had to fix the garden tap, thought it was too far gone I simply re-placed the whole thing, was cheap as too
But I do realize how much water can be wasted, one time i saw the tap in the shower leaked so put a bucket under it over night, next morning it overflowed!!

By coincidence my newer kitchen tap started leaking a couple of months ago. I Googled what to do and purchased the inner cartridge I needed to replace. There were about five parts I needed to remove to install the cartridge and I got stuck at the last step. I was so annoyed with myself. I called my mate who came over and removed the last part with ease. All he did was pull it harder than I did. He told me to use a bit of elbow grease next time and not waste his pub time lol. Man did I feel foolish.
