I couldn't find an appropriate thread to post this, so I thought I'd start a new one.
My bath tub's tap started dripping a couple of days ago at the rate of about two drops per second. A plumber is coming tomorrow. We have been catching the water to feed our plants. The amount of water we have captured over the last 24 hours is between 15 and 20 litres, allowing for some loss while we slept. This amount has blown me away, I thought it would only have been a couple of litres. Goodness knows how much water I have wasted and how much money I have wasted over the years.
Does anybody else know of information about anything that might be interesting or helpful?

Just make sure it's for the right tap - diff washers for hot and cold.
A plumber will want your first born as payment for that.
Stawks, I had new taps installed a while back in my kitchen and other bathroom. There are no washers or rings involved in the newer systems.
OK I admit it, I'm a dinosaur.
But I just had my bathroom renovated, and I had water damage under the tiles and the
subfloor.
I got $3½ K out of my insurance co.
So just check everything's ok.
If the pipe is cracked it's def an insurance job.

Dunno.
But I need a new toilet and I've been quoted $1,000 and I have to buy the suite!
Still thinking about that one.

From the floor to the sewerage pipe, yes.
The floor is about 3 feet off the ground

Stawks I'm a dinosaur too, at least with respect to the taps that need replacing. They have pretty much been there since I was a dinosaur hatchling. I will watch my mate (from a distance) and ask him to check everything. But I am grateful that you mentioned insurance if the pipe is cracked, which he thinks might be the case. I would not have thought of that.

Search Youtube on how tos, if you're unsure. Then you can fix the problem yourself soon as it arises!
Easy for a mechanic to talk. For those of us who have no idea it can be a huge task. Cheap? What about tools that are needed. Wrist strength etc. How do we know what sort of washer to get? Der.

Information on how tos are easily accessible, Existing tools can be used, parts can be easily matched & had, and I'm no mechanic!
It's not rocket science & if strength is an issue.. a scrap bit of steel pipe can be used as an extension on the end of the wrench for better leverage
Derrr LOL
