I said "This is my country , my culture and it is a Matriarchal Culture which means we treat women with respect"

I can understand why you said what you did but I would have just told him he was a rude b.......d and left it at that.
His ethnicity really has nothing to do with his rudeness. It would have been just as rude if he spoken to the other man in English whilst he was in conversation with someone else.
I agree

When I was a teen travelling the harvists....a mooslim once had a wee (lol) ifront of us girls without even turning his back.
i went right off tap at him and he responded with in my country you don't talk to men like that 🙂
......well he soon learnt how us women talk to disrespectful pigs in this country!
Lmao ahhhh memories......

Now that I know the context of the conversation, yes your comment would be considered racist.
How do you see that as being racist??
grandmoons comments were aimed at this one particular bloke with comments about his OWN country... not the country of the person he was speaking to. If he had said something like...*all you (insert race and skin colour here) pigs are just the same!* ... then that would make it racist!

IMO grandmoon saying "In my country..." inferred that his country was carp

Grandmoon, maybe you can answer your own question ?
Why did you use the wording you used ?
rather than perhaps just saying maybe "excuse us, we were just having a conversation won't be a minute " ?
what would you say to a man (or equally relevant a women) who butted into a conversation who you thought to be a born a bread Aussie ?
on 28-04-2013 04:03 PM
For those who are interested the conversation started when this male entered a room where there were 2 women and a man have a serious conversation. As he entered he started to speak in his own language which the other man also speaks. I said "That was very rude as we are speaking"
After we finished our conversation he asked me what I had against him. When I started to answer him he started to yell at me that I was a liar, all the other women were liars and I was a piece of S**t.
I then said "This is my Country, my culture which is a martrarchal culture which means we treat women with respect"
I see that he was also being abusive.
I'm guessing that your reply "This is my Country, my culture which is a martrarchal culture which means we treat women with respect"
may have made matters worse ?

This is my country , my culture and it is a Matriarchal Culture which means we treat women with respect
Yet every day we read where a woman has been abused.....Australian raised and abused by the same.
Without knowing the full content of what happened it's impossible to comment on whether your comment was racist.
