Is a tidy desk the sign of a tidy mind?
Does the state of a persons house (cleanliness) reflect a persons wealth (state of finances)?

With the desk scenario (work)....I believe that an organised, tidy person, will be able to work faster, and more efficiently, and this will flow onto the people around them.
They might possibly be less stressed as well.

Is a tidy desk the sign of a tidy mind?
In my experience and observation - yes.

My desk (like my house) is a cluttered mess of a space.
But my mind works beautifully.;-)
I do periodically clean my desk. But then I sit there and think "Yikes - what now?". It takes me ages to get restarted.
A bit like the house. When it is tidy all I want to do is sit and veg in front of the TV. When it is untidy I tend to move 100miles an hour going from project to project and generally making more mess.
My mess is what inspires me.
Tidyness slows me up.

I'm not quite sure why the Op would make any connection between messy/tidy to rich/poor. That makes no sense at all. ?:|

a mess is measured by the quality of the items strewn about the place. if the objects are good then the mess is less of a mess. a desk covered with montblanc pens , various Brueget and Audemars watches draped over Dunhill desksets on the hand -tooled leather top of the regency mahogany desk .. how does it compare to the neatly folded cheezel packets placed in the plastic swing top bin next to the fantastic furniture computer desk ? quite favourably..
having said that , the 150 year old cedar chair i'm sitting on is uncomfortable compared to my officeworks one i have elsewhere. ;\

I tidy house/room/desk could be because a person is able to afford a maid or a house cleaner - or they have a mum who nags them all the time to tidy their room....

I have an area where we watch telly and its also the dog place to chill and it can be untidy, we have a formal area that is immaculately clean and tidy. The foyer shines and the upstairs tv room is very tidy too. The lived in look is really where we live most of the time.

I think mess does equal disorganisation and this in turn equals missed opportunities with finances.

This makes no sense either.
How does a tidy desk improve your finances?

Well, for myself anyway
I know that when I am organised and have everything where it should be
and know what I am doing and when I should be doing it
I have inner peace
and I am on top of my bills and not missing things
