Is this going to bring more hardship to eBay sellers?

Australia Post has gone mad.

CEO earns Millions, Workers loose their jobs.

Now they want even more money from us?

The hike of stamps from 70cents to $1.- was outrageous enough.

I wish someone would start another Postal Service and get AP out of business.

Well, you know

Postage is just so cheap

Service is the best in the world

Almost no problems

They have to make their money somewhere

Poor struggling company in tough economic times (as the bot describes them in Face Book replies to complaints)

Maybe if they gave their CEO the DFO and / or POQ  they would'nt be such a 'struggling' mess

Sorry Stawka, should have put the link in there. I was upset just reading the article and the comments.

It costs nothing if you pick up your parcels within 5 days.

Most could manage that, I'm sure

From August 1, if a package isn’t collected within five days, its recipient would have to hand over $3 to pick it up.

An additional $3 will be charged for each week the package is held. Packages will be held for up to 30 days with customers paying up to $9 to retrieve an item.

I think it will encourage buyers to pick their parcels up a lot quicker

There is a thread on the seller's board with sellers' views

I cant see this affecting sellers at all... It might affect a few buyers who may not be able to get to a PO or collection agency within 5 days though...

It will impact on sellers if the buyers leave it for 5 days before picking it up,

and then stupidly answer 'no' to the question 'did it arrive on or before....'

That gives the seller a defect

I saw this on the news earlier.  The headline was "AP to charge $9 for you to pick up your parcels".  What sensationalist clap trap!

If someone can't manage to collect things they have ordered to be delivered within 5 days then they probably deserve to be charged storage fees.

yes, that could be a problem stawka...

Erica CEO's are bleeding companies dry with their huge salaries, and then they cry they need more profits. It seems nothing was learned from the GFC

AP are probably running at a loss with letter mail as so much is done electronically these days, but their parcel mail must be booming. I resent that if you have a 510 gm parcel that you have to pay a 3kg price.  so many parcels weigh between 500 gm and 1 kg.  they must be making a killing on that one.

an AP spokesperson said they will only be making a couple of million (lol) from this new parcel collect charge. I know if I have a parcel on the way, it's usually something I'm eager to receive, so I wouldn't let it sit at the PO for 9 days. She also said that if customers don't like it.. they will remove it
