It's a rotten conspiracy

For the past hour we have been in a very strong electrical storm cell.
Tonight is my best TV night and these cells always seem to come then. Not one functioning Tele channel.
My OH is about to get thumped, his solution is for me to either bake him some cakes or do something else which does not need tv.
He has no chance on either score.
Just having a whinge.

Re: It's a rotten conspiracy

What programs do you particularly want Jean?

I have been recording channel 7.2 since 6.30pm and a few programs on other channels.

Let me know and I will see what I can do for you.

Re: It's a rotten conspiracy

Lyndal, thank you that is very generous of you.

When I checked the programme they were all repeats of Rosemary & Thyme and New Tricks that I had seen quite a while ago on another channel.

Apart from a busted 6 seater outdoor glass topped table, a cast iron umbrella stand and a 2m market umbrella we got off lightly.

We watched as the wind lifted the table complete with cast iron base and umbrella and blew them up the backyard. Very impressive.

That thing weighs a ton.

Re: It's a rotten conspiracy

wow. that is impressive.

We just had the power restored in the last half hour. Apparently airborne trampolines have a lot to answer for.

The worst I got (besides 18 hours without power) was a roof blown off the dog house. The roof that hubby and son (mostly son) put on his shed last week held up, so he's pleased.

Re: It's a rotten conspiracy

It really was a horrible storm last night, wasn't it Jean? I rarely turn off the computer, the monitor, the printer etc, but when I went to bed last night I pulled the plug on everything.

Geez. I hope the dog wasn't in it.  Though if it's anything like mine it was probably hiding under the doona shaking, lol.  .

Re: It's a rotten conspiracy

I agree jean!

My problem is, I live on the coast, and I mean ON the coast, across from the beach and the lovely salt air, so the life of a TV (any electrical appliance not stored in a cupboard) has a about 2 years tops.

ATM, my lovely big screen TV is simply turning itself on and off as it see's fit., it teases me, advertising my program starting at 8.00 and merrily shuts down at 8.02 !

I rarely watch TV, sometmes it is on for the company so to speak, and it appears all is well so I might hire a DVD, at which point it will either not go at all, freeze and fade out or, more frustratingly, will go fine until I am on the edge of my seat waiting for the outcome of this who dunnit, and BAM

Quite the problem at times LOL

Re: It's a rotten conspiracy

I swapped from live TV to DVDs when my favorite shows became more and more filled with ads, cut, started late, or were replaced by repeats to be screened at another time entirely. Too much bother with JB Hifi around the corner 🙂

Re: It's a rotten conspiracy

I never record anything now as opposed to years ago I did a lot. I have Optus Pay TV with lots of excellent docos as well as the normal free to air channels. Jean, I hope you managed to salvage some joy with your programs after all that or someone could help you with recordings. I would die without TV. I was an only child with parents who could only be described as hermits - rarely left the house. My mother especially - my father only to go to work basically. The TV set was a godsend to me. Anyway, I do understand what it's like to have programs you really want to see only to have a  power outage. Where I used to live years ago just about every time there was storm activity even if it wasn't really close, our suburb would go out, often for hours. There was a program that only came on TV about once a month from the US. If you wanted to see it regularly you had to have a satellite dish on your roof. It was a big deal for me to see this program so of course, you guessed it, the night it was screening - I saw about 5 minutes of it - storm came up and out we went. I couldn't believe it. It wasn't going to be repeated nor was it available at that time at a hire shop. Hope you have better luck from now on. Also hope your return to the markets is going really well.

Re: It's a rotten conspiracy

I used to love watching classic movies on late at night, too.
