It is basically risk versus benefit. Does the benefit outweigh the risk. Same with a lot of medications and life decisions. Do we take the risk and is it worth it. After seeing the results of these diseases I would choose to vaccinate. I vaccinated all my children and only one had a reaction. She is fine and suffered no long term affects, thank goodness.

Freedom to chose is the issue.
Yes, and so is the freedom to choose to exclude the children of those who refuse to vaccinate.

I couldn't care less what others do or don't do unless it affects others, the simple facts are that these people that aren't vaccinating are placing others at risk.
Everything everyone does puts a certain amount of risk on others.
There are different groups of non vaccinators, just as there vaccinators.

I reckon parents who refuse to vaccinate without good reason, then their child catches one of the diseases, should be charged with child neglect.

no that is discrimination

vaccinating does not mean you wont catch a nasty illness....nor does it mean you are immune. Why vaccinate if you are already immune to certain illness? None of.mine were vaccinated whooping cough.....none have ver shown signs of having it except the youngest when the Yarra Ranges was rife with it. A swab and blood test showed immunity. I am not anti vaccine but am pro choice.

Thing is, they all seem to have a good reason.

Hmm ok... Ill change my opinion ๐
i think parents who refuse to vaccinate and their children have no immunity, should be reported for child abuse.
I would like to see real studies that look at the risks. Not individual examples, but a true, large sample comparison such as the rates of autism (or other supposed complication) in populations of vaccinated vs not vaccinated... and the samples be from our country, so other lifestyle issues are balanced across both groups.
