Juicing - who does it?

I'm sick and tired of feeling sick and tired so I've decided to start juicing. I bought a Breville Juice Fountain online. It arrives next week.

Has anyone done this juicing thing before? How did you feel? Do you have a favourite recipe?

I eventually got sick of juicing.  I found that it really didn't make any difference.  What did make a huge difference was a detox diet.  Not the commercial ones, my naturopath suggested a detox plan for me.  Do that from time to time,  drink plenty of water every day, try exercising daily.  I know it sounds basic but it works.  I went through a period of time when I had absolutely no energy.  Even Vit B12 injections did not help.

Kat, I've been trying to cut down on carbs but its so difficult.  I love bread, I love pasta, I love potatoes.

Also, my naturopath recommended iodine drops to boost energy.  Not sure if it was the combination of all the above but as I said, it made a HUGE difference.

How is your iron level?

I had my iron levels checked last year and they were good.

I'm going to do as you did meeps, combine juices with a detox diet. I've been on one before and it cured all those little niggling health issues like headaches, itchy skin and I was also having acupuncture and chiro work at the same time and I felt amazing. I can't afford the acu and chiro this time.

That's how I feel too meeps. Just no energy whatsover. I could sleep 12 hours a night and still wake up tired.

yep, i know how that feels.  I was working full time, started to take a lot of time off work and eventually, after seeing many different doctors, I decided to see a naturopath.  She was a life saver.

You might also want to read up on CFS.  I think its finally been recognised by WHO as an illness.

Stress/anxiety is a big factor as you know.  Healthy mind, healthy body.

Relaxation/meditation, diet, exercise.  You know the drill.  Of course, motivation is a problem, it can be a vicious circle.  You will get there.  Start slowly, you will notice the difference and keep going.  ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi Cat, :-x

This is my thing...

I love my 'mean green' juice, but have added some extra greens to suit my own taste over the past 2 years. This is simply a chlorophyll hit for the body. I try not to eat meat or processed foods, added salt or sugars and eat my foods freshly prepared as much as possible.

Cut down or preferably out, processed foods, sugars, salt and meat. Daily routine of drinking 2ltrs of water, eat fresh produce, eating slowly, portion control and giving my body a rest from any food for at least 12 hours at night seems to work for me. ๐Ÿ˜„

Have fun with your juicing Cat.โ™ฅ

Re: Juicing - who does it?

I am gluten intolerant too. I also juice.
I have been doing it for just over a year. I make smoothies too as sometimes I want to have pulp. Stopping wheat and gluten products was the best thing I have ever done.
As you slowly turn your body from being acidic to an alkaline state, you will notice your joints stop hurting, your general well being improves. The mental clarity is great.

I also stopped caffeine too.  Some don't but it made a difference to me.
If I didn't juice there is almost no way I would eat that many vegies. Or even the recommended daily amount.  I also add wheatgrass to my juices too in the morning.
And even though it is juice, it is still your meal. Be sure to sit down and have it as you normally would.

Find Joe Cross on facebook and RawRebecca.
I went from there. So many links on pinterest too.

Banana an spinach actually go well together. Who would have thought ๐Ÿ˜„

I have sent away 20 kilos.  Intend to send another 20 or more away this year. Then I will be more comfortable with walking ans maybe even jogging. My knees crunch and I have an issue with my left ankle going out of alignment. That is improving though. ๐Ÿ™‚
Slowly is properly.

I also am about 80% vegan lifestyle. Which means I will have eggs and some days I will have some meat and fish. Usually fish.  Sometimes I will have a bit of cheese.
Do not worry about people saying you wont get protein and calcium.
You will get plenty. Trust me.

*hint* Kale is a superfood. You can get it easily at Woolies now. ๐Ÿ™‚

Re: Juicing - who does it?

I stand by my tip of lettuce juice, it's meant to be healthy, not good tasting, that's why you have to add tasty juices with it to get it down.

Dixo has it right with green juices.

Chlorophyll is apparently the closest substance in nature to human blood, so it's no wonder it's so good for us.

Re: Juicing - who does it?

This is very encouraging, hearing what others have done to improve their health and wellbeing.

My juicer arrives tomorrow and today I'm to buy lots of vege's. I'll replace breakfast with a green juice for the next week, stay off gluten and cut out sugar in the second week and so on ....

I'm a vegetarian, so meat isn't a problem but I'll need to cut down on the cheese and dairy and have more quinoa, lentils and nuts as my protein sources.

Capri congrats on feeling better and losing 20kg!

Freddie thanks for the link :-x
